The animated series Samurai Jack is now getting a new video game on the latest video game consoles. The samurai will once again pick up his sword to fight against the evil villain Aku in Samurai Jack: Battle Through Time.

Along with the announcement was a launch trailer plus additional information about the developer, story, and cast.

“Become Samurai Jack, the greatest warrior of the past, present and future. Journey through time to finally stop Aku’s evil reign in this new adventure told by the creators of Samurai Jack. Encounter your favorite characters from the show including The Scotsman, Scaramouche, Sir Rothchild and more!” states the official Adult Swim Games website.

Samurai Jack: Battle Through Time is an action-platformer that spans across time and space. Jack will team up with allies from the series, including playing through worlds and other important moments from the show.

Jack will have access to over a dozen different weapons that can be mastered. His skill level can improve by training and unlocking additional skills.

Many of the original voice cast will return to reprise their roles as the characters from the show. Phil LaMarr was cast as Samurai Jack’s voice actor with Greg Baldwin as Aku.

Since the game was just announced, little additional information has rolled out concerning the game so far. Some new screenshots were released showcasing the worlds that players will play through.

A physical version of the game is still unknown, but the official Nintendo store page lists a digital download of 3.8 GB.

The game has already been rated T for Teen by the ESRB for violence and blood content.

The developer, Soleil Ltd. is a subsidiary of Valhalla Game Studio. They’ve previously worked on RockShot for PC and Naruto to Boruto: Shinobi Striker, which was released in August 2018. Valhalla Game Studio is a Tokyo, Japan-based company that previously released Devil’s Third.

Samurai Jack first aired on Cartoon Network in 2001. The show ran for four seasons, with the fifth season airing in 2017. Similar to the fifth season, it seems that fans will finally get to experience more of Samurai Jack’s adventures on current consoles.

Samurai Jack: Battle Through Time launches on PC, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One later in 2020.
