Super Monkey Ball was a big part of many gamers’ childhood video game experience. It was part of a time in video games where achievement was self-invented and completing a game was more than just a storylines end. Super Monkey Ball has always brought a unique experience to the platforming genre, and for many then enjoyment to be found just rolling around the map was enough for making it a 10/10 game.

Super Monkey Ball Banana Blitz HD is the reimagined version of the original Banana Blitz. The initial launch was full of issues due to it being motion controlled and a Wii exclusive. This new version is bringing back the original feel of the series and including the much-needed change of analog sticks for controls.

The reimagining brings a brand new experience to some and a much-needed rush of nostalgia for long term fans. Do not alarm yourself with the tilting levels and the large text that appears screaming “TILT!” on the screen for this is how Super Monkey Ball has always worked.

The game is also featuring some new content. The final release will have over 100 stages with the same kind of bizarre bosses that made the game great. You get the opportunity of battling against bulbous-brained condors and an evil baboon all the while rolling around in the same plastic ball.

For those unfamiliar with the series, the entire game is played from inside the plastic balls. The crazy speeds, tilting maps, and careful rolling is part of what made the game so endearing to many fans. Although many modern games don’t have the same level of sea-sick level adrenaline Super Monkey Ball will always be the king of ball based platform games.

If you get tired of being stuck in a plastic ball, you can also enjoy some additional Monkey themed sports, including Snowboarding. All of the game’s points are based on the collecting of a monkey’s most treasured possession: bananas.

So whether you’re a fan new or old, this is a great time to experience a vital part of gaming history. There is a monkey for everyone, and the balls are customizable as they always have been. This is a classic game for any gamers collection.

Super Monkey Ball Banana Blitz HD will be launched for PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and Xbox One on October 29. The Steam release is expected sometime after, but no guaranteed date has been set for the game.
