The man behind Assassin’s Creed assured everyone that 1666 Amsterdam will surely be happening.
As a matter of fact, it could be Patrice Désilets’ upcoming project, next to Ancestors: The Humankind Odyssey.
As of now, the renowned Assassin’s Creed main man is extremely preoccupied in finishing his prehistoric survival game.
This game is entitled Ancestors: The Humankind Odyssey.
Ancestors are apparently Désilets’ first ever game made from Panache, his Montreal-based studio. His next project is expected to be 1666 Amsterdam.
This is based on the IP Désilets’ sued Ubisoft over control way back in 2013. Since it was Patrice Désilets himself who revealed this news, most probably, this is set to happen.
It’s Désilets’who is heading the 1666 Amsterdam project development at THQ. The game is an open world one, and it centers on the devil himself. The said studio, unfortunately, folded way back in 2013 and was subsequently bought by Ubisoft.
As such, it’s Ubisoft who had full control of the project.
Unfortunately, Ubisoft fired Désilets. As a result of such firing, the latter sued Ubisoft to retrieve full rights and access to the game.
Désilets, fortunately, regained access and control of 1666 Amsterdam in 2016.
Since then, no one heard much news about the game and about the parties involved in the case. And just when everyone was convinced that all were buried, Désilets revealed that 1666 Amsterdam will be happening for sure.
He even said that Ancestor’s jungle elements, like apes swinging in between trees, will have more influence into the game.
He elaborated further that the ape can just be made to wear a cape and another game can be made. And he said he got a toolbox by allowing the ape to climb tree trunks, rock, and building façade.
However, he said that when 1666 will happen, it’ll be different compared to his original vision. It might change a little bit than originally intended, too.
If pushed through, the players will be assuming the role of the devil’s apprentice, instead of the devil himself.
The moment Désilets finishes his work on Ancestors, he might just be working on Amsterdam 1666. And if he ends up doing that, he said he is most likely to start from scratch.
After a long and chaotic past, fans believe that the game deserves a reboot and a proper launch. They also think that Désilets will be delivering a better and competitive game. They are sure that it’ll be a great game whether it’s from scratch or from where Désilets left off.
