The Uncharted movie, which will serve as an origin story for Nathan Drake, is currently in production, and it appears that some photos from the set have leaked via Twitter which shows Mark Wahlberg as Victor “Sully” Sullivan alongside Tom Holland, who is playing the role of the game’s longtime protagonist.
The photos, which can be seen below, show Sully and Nathan out in Berlin, Germany, with Mark Wahlberg looking more like, well, Mark Wahlberg instead of looking like Drake’s mentor.

Nolan North, who is the voice actor behind Nathan Drake in the games, said previously that he isn’t excited about the movie because of the casting choices, mainly Mark Wahlberg as Sully. However, North is behind the idea of the movie being an origin story instead of trying to add to or recreate the story shown in the video games.
“I’m actually looking forward to it, and I think people should look forward to it. Give them a chance. We’ve never seen Nathan Drake in his 20s and a Sully in his 40s. It could be interesting. I like the fact they’re going to do a different spin on it and I’m looking forward to seeing how they do. I like Tom Holland, I like Mark Wahlberg, I enjoy their films, so let them put their spin on it.”
If the first movie does well, the rumor is that Tom Holland wants Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson to play the villain in the sequel. To say the least, fans of the game have mixed feelings about the upcoming movie, so we’ll see if the films’ first trailer is able to sway those who are either against the idea or on the fence about it.
Of course, according to Holland, the movie’s script is one of the best he’s ever read. Furthermore, he thinks that Wahlberg is going to “kill it” as Sully. That, like everything else regarding the upcoming movie, remains to be seen.
“But I’m super excited to make that movie and it’s been a long time coming,” said Holland while speaking with IGN. “I read the newest draft of the script on the way over here and it’s one of the best scripts I’ve ever read. It really, really jumps off the page.”
As of this writing, the Uncharted movie, which will be an origin story for Nathan Drake, is currently scheduled to be released in July of next year.
