Final Fantasy VII Remake was one of the most sought after releases in modern memory.

Since the game was first revealed at E3 2015, fans were clamoring for the game’s release, which eventually came amidst the COVID-19 pandemic in April 2020.

The second the credits started to roll at the end of the game, many players the world over had the same reaction.

“WHEN IS THE NEXT ONE COMING OUT?”

Many were concerned that development on this second installment of one of the biggest remakes in the history of gaming was going to take another five years.

According to Square Enix, they’re already hard at work. It had come out that development on the second installment of Final Fantasy VII Remake had begun before the first game was even released.

Now, Square Enix has confirmed that the game has entered into full blown development, as they are trying to get it out and in the hands of players as fast as possible.

The game’s co-director Naoki Hamaguchi confirmed this in a recent Famitsu interview.

“While we are earnestly working on it, we may make you wait, but please look forward to it,” Hamaguchi said.

His comments made it very clear that the development team was done with initial planning and moving straight ahead into development.

Game director Tetsuya Nomura also spoke about the development of the second game, saying that he wants the next installment to be released as soon as possible, along with a roadmap for the remainder of the series.

“I believe that by the time we announce the next title, we’ll be able to clarify more on our plans moving forward,” he said.

Nomura wasn’t done there.

“We are very aware of the voices saying they want to continue ASAP,” he continued. “We would like to get it out ASAP, but we are also keeping an eye on quality. For the next one, because we want players to enjoy something that’s even higher quality than the current one, we ask that you wait a little longer, even though we are trying to release the game as quickly as we can.”

Basically, they’re saying that they know you want the game, they’re working on it, and asking for patience as they seek to improve on what was already a pretty fantastic gaming experience.

Final Fantasy VII Remake released on April 10, 2020 for the PlayStation 4 console. It will remain a PlayStation 4 exclusive for at least a period of one year, before it cane be adapted to other consoles.
