Dragon Age 4 was shown briefly at EA Play Live 2020. The point of the show was mainly because of Star Wars: Squadrons and other announcements like Skate 4 and the recent EA Originals.

Moreover, EA Chief Studios Officer Laura Miele created little time to discuss ongoing projects at DICE studios, BioWare, and Criterion (Need for Speed).

Here’s what Laura Miele had to say about BioWare’s project:

BioWare thinks and builds worlds where you become the hero of your own story. They are leveraging next-generation technology to make these fantasy worlds your reality.

As she spoke, Dragon Age 4 showcased there of its impressive images—still a work in progress though. These shots sparked interest in the game’s themes.

While still in speculation, Dragon Age 4 would be centered on the thinning of the Veil and the impending doom for all of Thedas as they seek mercy from all kinds of beings from the Fade realm.

The sequel to this fantasy IP was initially teased in December 2018 during that year’s Game Awards, with a short video that ended with the phrase ‘I expect you have questions’ and with the tagline #TheDreadWolfRises.

Hopefully, Dragon Age 4 will come out at some point in the fiscal year 2023, according to publisher EA—Electronic Arts. Usually, EA’s fiscal years are +1 to the actual calendar, so it means the game could drop 2022 if everything works according to plan.

With that said, nine months ago, BioWare GM Casey Hudson hinted that the suggested work on the Dragon Age 4’s project was going according to plan. However, due to Anthem’s earlier disappointment, the studio will have to be sure everything is on point before dropping its next game.
