In Thief Simulator, players aim to be the best at their job. Being a thief in the game is a complicated process with one major consequence: get caught and go to jail.
“Become the thief. Steal in free roam sandbox neighborhoods. Observe your target and gather information that will help you with the burglary. Take the challenge and rob the best secured houses. Buy some hi-tech burglar equipment and learn new thief tricks. Sell stolen goods to the passers. Do anything that a real thief does!” states the official game summary.
Players will have to gather intel about their targets before striking, which may include watching the victim’s house to learn their movements. Players will then attempt to break into the house by picking their locks or other means, such as using high-tech equipment to break into more secured locations.
After inside the home, thieves have to move fast and take as much as possible. The catch is that players have to decide on what’s a high item that can be resold and what is useless junk. If players take too long or make the wrong moves, the police may arrive before they can escape.
Players don’t have to limit themselves to homes. Cars are another target that can be stolen and disassembled for parts.
With their stolen goods, players can sell the parts online. Each stolen item has to be prepared properly before selling them in a local place like a pawn shop, or else the police will trace the items back to the thief.
Thief Simulator was previously released in 2018 on PC via Steam and Xbox One in February 2020. When the title launched on Steam, it was at the top of the Best Seller list that weekend. The game is a small file size of 1.7 GB and supports English, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Russian, and Spanish languages.
Thief Simulator is a digital download only on the Switch eShop and is available now.
