World of Warcraft‘s rapidly-approaching expansion, Shadowlands, continues to have more and more content teased with every day that passes. In a recent interview with Zoltan, Game Director Ion Hazzikostas discussed a wide variety of upcoming possibilities for the upcoming expansion, with a focus on endgame content.
As one would expect, there’s always going to be the typical array of dungeons and raids for endgame content. This has been the case since Vanilla, and makes up a huge core of the PvE content of any MMORPG, with World of Warcraft being far from an exception. They’ve given little in the way of hints in terms of what we can expect, likely somewhat in part because of the lore implications of the endgame content, but Hazzikostas has confirmed that Mythic+ will be continuing within Shadowlands.

Players should also expect a continuation of sorts of the World Quest system, which has been around for the latest handful of expansions. This constantly-replenishing source of quests provides a neverending amount of content for endgame, as well as providing a vital way to grind out rep and resources, which can end up gating a good amount of content.
However, rather than be the same World Quest system that we’ve seen, there will be a new system of Emissaries called the “Calling” system, related to the new Covenants system. Calling works similar to Emissaries but will be a bit more involved than simply sending you out to complete a small number of World Quests that affect a single faction.
Calling will also be tied to the new Covenant Sanctum, which will be similar to the Class Halls of Legion mechanically though still quite distinct. Leveling the Covenant Sanctum is going to be an important long-term activity to keep endgame going, and the Anima that you bring back from your Callings and other activities will be vital here.
Players will also be performing the nice, wholesome task of collecting souls from the Maw and Torghast. These souls will be returned directly to your Covenant to unlock a variety of rewards and content.
Conquest and Honor will be coming back as well on the PvP side of endgame content. There are no new Battlegrounds being planned, though there could potentially be a new Shadowlands-themed arena. Many players have expressed confusion as to how PvP will work lorewise given that the factions are no longer hostile towards one another, but it seems that the mechanics will be trumping over the lore this time.
