It’s doubtful that anyone needs even more of a reason to cut through massive hordes of vermin in FatSharks prodigal son title Warhammer: Vermintide 2.
It feels fantastic to cut your way through hordes of Skaven and Beastmen across a multitude of levels with three other friends (or randoms), and it only gets better as the difficulty increases to make the vermin that much more frightening. There’s little that can compare to the experience of having your back pressed against a wall while surrounded by vermin, and suddenly you hear the unmistakable call of a Rat Ogre coming to finish your desperate party off.
FatShark has continued to make the best of the Coronavirus situation that appeared shortly after they opted for in-game microtransactions to pay for upcoming levels and features being added that everyone can play together, regardless of purchases. Throughout the pandemic, FatShark has consistently added double experience weekends and opportunities for fans to play with the developers of Warhammer: Vermintide 2 to keep everyone firmly rooted in their chair as a good citizen should currently be.
Since yesterday you've managed to reach over 22,000,000 pactsworn kills!
If you reach 500,000,000 before April 30th you'll be rewarded! #PlayApartTogether

In their newest community event, FatShark is encouraging fans of horde slaying to unite together in the game between now and April 30th to slay 500,000,000 Skaven, Rotblood, and Beastmen for an opportunity to earn a new character portrait that will mark the player as participating in the event. The portrait looks pretty cool, as well.
Five hundred million creatures are quite a sizeable sum, but it’s definitely doable if the community can band together to work through it, and FatShark has added an ‘almost’ real-time counter on their website, where the current kill-tally has already surpassed 22 million.
Admittedly there’s a long way to go still, but there’s still also a good chunk of time left. Considering that each level played on hard results in the ballpark of somewhere near 600 kills, this means that roughly 833,333 matches will need to be played to completion by the community during the event.
Finally, because FatShark is eager to go all-out, they’re also offering a microtransaction for Saltzpyre’s Zealot class with the ‘Crown of Purity’ where all proceeds will go to a charity responding to COVID-19, after fees and taxes are applied. The microtransaction is admittedly a pricey one, costing $10.00 total for a character that isn’t Kerillian (the only character that you should be playing) but it’s difficult to argue since it’s all going to a good cause.
Once again, gamers have the opportunity to bring about change for the betterment of the world thanks to enterprising developers. Eat that, Mom.
