Hearthstone is constantly changing, and the title is getting the next set of massive alterations. The newest patch, patch 17.0, sets the game up for the upcoming Ashes of Outland expansion.
To get the game ready, Blizzard has changed things around considerably. Their latest patch heavily alters much of the cards for Priest, adding in a few as well.
Beginning with the Priest, you should note that six cards have been added to the Hall of Fame. Auchenai Soulpriest, Holy Fire, Shadowform, Prophet Velen, Divine Spirit, and Northshire Cleric will all be added to the Hall of Fame format. If you have these cards, expect to receive their worth in dust, and good luck with them in their new format!

In terms of the changes that Blizzard has made to Priest for the other game modes, the following alterations have been made:
- Power Word: Shield is now a 0-cost, but will no longer cause you to draw a card.
- Shadow Word: Death has had its cost reduced to 2, down from 3.
- Holy Smite now deals 3 damage, but is only usable on minions.
- Holy Nova now costs 4, but will only damage enemy minions and not their hero.
- Shadow Madness has had its cost reduced to 3, down from 4.
- Temple Enforcer is now a 5-cost, down from 6, but has 5 attack instead of 6 as well.
- Thoughtsteal is now a 2-cost, down from 3.
Overall, some of these are pretty powerful buffs. Thoughtsteal and Shadow Madness having their cost reduced will likely put them in many more decks, and they were far from out of play to begin with. Others, like Holy Smite now only dealing damage to minions, may make it fall out of favor in some decks due to it only serving as board removal.
Other than these changes, Blizzard has added these cards to the Priest class. The first two are Basic, while the last four will need to be obtained from Classic card packs or crafted.
- Psychic Conjurer – 1-cost, 1/1. Battlecry: Copy a card in your opponent’s deck and add it to your hand.
- Power Infusion – 4-cost, give a minion +2/+6.
- Kul Tiran Chaplain – 2-cost, 2/3. Battlecry: Give a friendly minion +2 health.
- Scarlet Subjugator – 1-cost, 2/1. Battlecry: Give an enemy minion -2 Attack until your next turn.
- Shadow Word: Ruin – 4-cost. Destroy all minions with 5 or more attack.
- Natalie Seline – 8-cost, 8/1. Battlecry: Destroy a minion and gain its health.
Natalie Seline seems to be the most powerful card in this new set, but the spells being added also offer a great amount of variety. It’ll be interesting to see how these new additions change the role of Priest in Hearthstone.
