The Game Awards are an annual celebration of video game achievements over the past year. There have been several nominees, but the awards celebration isn’t the only part of the event. There will be live music, interviews, and more.
The Game Awards are also when developers and publishers announce new games.
On December 5, Geoff Keighley, Producer of the Game Awards, held a Reddit AMA to answer various questions from gamers.
Keighley confirmed that there will be around ten new game announcements made during the ceremony: “We have a bunch of brand new games being announced at the show — I think there are around 10 new games/projects being revealed if you want to count the things that no one has heard about yet.”
Many commenters speculated which game would be announced, but Keighley did not deny nor confirm any of their posts.
For those wondering if the Resident Evil 3 remake will make an appearance, Keighley put an end to those rumors: “There are no plans (never were) to do anything with Resident Evil 3 at the show.”
Keighley wanted gamers to know that a lot of the leaks and rumors are false. As of December 5, no content from the show has been leaked. Any developer that has announced a new title will debut at the show was intentional.
One such title is a new title from Wolfeye Studios. The new company was created by Arkane Studio’s former President and Creative Director Raphael Colantonio, along with Former Executive Producer Julien Roby. Their unknown title will be the first to debut at the show.
Wolfeye Studios released a teaser image of a person holding a staff and wearing a red backpack.
The Game Awards 2019 has many award categories, including Game of the Year, Best Game Direction, Best Art Direction, Best Narrative, Best Score/Music, and many more.
Contenders for the Game of the Year will sound familiar to most gamers. The nominees are Control, Death Stranding, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, Resident Evil 2, Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, and The Outer Worlds.
The Game Awards 2019 will premiere on Thursday, December 12, from Los Angeles, CA. The event will be streamed live on over 60 platforms and is scheduled to run for around 2.5 hours.
