Fans have been talking about the enchanting graphics and adorable cutscenes that have been released. This game is amazing fans with its own unique inspiration and themes in a brand new world. Crystallis, the world, comes from the developer’s own experiences in real life. Saint Clarity mimics Cartagena, Barranquilla, and other Columbian cities close to the ocean that enchanted the developers in the past.

Every environment brings new challenges for players to overcome. Saint Clarity is often hit by Arroyos: “rain-fueled flash floods that can carpet neighborhoods and streets—you’ll have to find high ground to avoid getting carried away!” These random additions to the towns and areas gives new depth and immersion to the game not found in other JRPGs.

New combat abilities were shown off as well. The heroine Crisbell is joined by Matias and Wilhelm. The turn-based system lets players stack attacks and sync with other skills creating a new mix of synergistic combat.

A good example is the combination of Wilhelm and Crisbell. Wilhelm possesses the Yukadragoras, which can be planted on the field to give off an AoE burst of poison. This toxin gets stronger over time, so when it is mixed with Crisbell’s warp time ability, it can cause a devastating combo attack and destroy many of your opponents.

“Crisbell must embark across Crystallis and the four Kingdoms in a bid to stop the powerful Time Empress and rewrite the future of the world and all those living in it. Along the way, she’ll meet and recruit powerful allies with their own unique stories and skills like Matias the Frog and Willhelm the Child Mage,” reads the game description.

The game seems to be a mix between a beautiful world and a masterfully crafted combat system. With the past, present, and future, all happening the game simultaneously opens a new world of drama to explore and understand. The game really goes to show the timeless charm of the JRPG genre and earns its right to call itself a love letter to classic JRPGs.
