The first version of the official Call of Duty League competitive settings has been released. A joint effort between League Administration, players, and coaches led to the development of the Competitive Settings V 1.0. These rules are not the final competitive settings, however they will be used to start off the season.
Since Call of Duty: Modern Warfare has only been out for a short while, as well as the league being brand new, the maps, modes, and rules governing them may change. Activision has been open about keeping the pro community involved with the evolution of the ruleset.
There are three main game modes that the Call of Duty league teams will be competing in, and each mode has an extensive list of settings requirements. If fans want to check out the entire list of rules in the Competitive Settings V 1.0, they can head over to the Call of Duty League website.
Twelve teams will face off in five vs. five Call of Duty: Modern Warfare multiplayer matches, exclusively using the PlayStation 4 and a controller.
The three modes that teams will be battling it out in are Search & Destroy, Domination, and Hardpoint.
Search & Destroy
This is an elimination-based game mode where each team member has only one life. One side is the attacking team, and the other side is the defending team. The attacking team can win the round by either detonating one of the defending team’s bomb sites, or by eliminating all the players on the defending team. The defending team can win the match by eliminating all the players on the attacking team or by defusing the explosives if they are planted. After each round, teams will switch sides and the team that wins the most rounds will win the match.
Maps for Search & Destroy:
Arklov Peak, Azhir Cave, Gun Runner, Hackney Yard, Piccadilly, Rammaza, and St. Petrograd.
Domination
This is a capture and control game mode where teams will battle over control points within the map. There are typically three control points located in critical areas of the map. It will take ten seconds for competitors to capture a control point, and they cannot capture it if an enemy is in the proximity of the zone. In the Competitive Settings V 1.0, one point every five seconds is awarded for each zone a team controls, and zero points are rewarded for each kill.
There will be two rounds, and each round will be six minutes long. The round score limit is unlimited, so the highest score wins.
Maps for Domination:
Gun Runner, Hackney Yard, Rammaza, and St. Petrograd.
Hardpoint
This is another capture and control game mode, but teams will battle to secure one “hardpoint.” As a team holds the hardpoint, they will earn points. The hardpoint will switch to different locations periodically throughout the match.
Teams will try and earn points, and the first to 250 wins the match.
Maps for Hardpoint:
Arklov Peak, Azhir Cave, Gun Runner, Hackney Yard, Rammaza, and St. Petrograd
These are the three official game modes, as well as the maps that they’ll be played on. As mentioned earlier, the game modes, maps, and rules listed in the Competitive Settings V 1.0 are subject to change.
The schedule has been announced for Call of Duty League, as well as the matches taking place in the first half of the regular season.
