The English Edition of Final Fantasy XV: The Dawn of the Future is finally coming out in English. Earlier this year, Square Enix, the long-time developer of the Final Fantasy universe, revealed plans to publish an English edition of the book. Fans have been eagerly awaiting the release date, and it has finally come, scheduled for June 23, 2020.

The original North American release date for The Dawn of the Future was Fall 2019.

The novel initially released in Japan on April 25, 2019, and is written by Emil Nagashima under her alias Jun Eishima. She was given drafts by the Final Fantasy XV development to structure the story.

Eishima has written other works for Square Enix as well, including Final Fantasy XIII, NierR: Automata, and Drakengard.

The book is brought to Final Fantasy fans by Square Enix Books. It will come out as a hardcover novel, including over 50 pages of full-color images and concept art in addition to the translated story. Stephen Kohler has done the English translation.

Fans can pre-order The Dawn of the Future on Amazon for $20.33.

Altogether there are 400 pages of character-driven content, expanding the story of Final Fantasy XV. The Dawn of the Future takes place in the world of Eos, the primary setting of the game. It covers the events of the DLC: Episode Ardyn, up until Ardyn Izunia has to make a decision to go along with Astral Bahamut’s plans or not. The rest of the book follows Ardyn, who denys his role his role with Astral Bahamut, and the consequences from that decision.

The book also follows Commodore Aranea, the Oracle Lunafreya and Noctis.

The Dawn of the Future will pick up the slack of Final Fantasy XV as Episode Arydyn is the first and last DLC to be released by Square Enix. Earlier this year, the developer was forced to cancel the three other games that were planned to be apart of the DLC The Dawn of the Future.

The reasoning for canceling the continuation of the story via video game was the resignation of Final Fantasy XV director Hajime Tabata, who left the company in October of 2018.

Final Fantasy XV is available on Play Station 4, Xbox One and PC, and will be available on Google Stadia in November. The Last DLC, named Episode Ardyn, was released in March of this year.

If fans are curious about what happens after the final DLC of Final Fantasy XV, they will have to be sure to pick up a copy of the The Dawn of the Future.
