When gamers think of upcoming titles that they’re excited about, the remake of Final Fantasy 7 is usually near the top of the list. This franchise has so much history and has defined what gaming is all about for a lot of fans.

This upcoming title by Square Enix is already getting a lot of praise. It was a focal point for many at this year’s E3, which makes sense. However, there is some concern for console and PC users. Reports have circulated that this game was only coming out to the PlayStation 4.

To clear things up, Square Enix weighed in on this matter after an announcement surfaced saying that FF7 Remake was coming to Xbox One as well. Unfortunately, that doesn’t seem to be the case. It is only being offered to PS4 users, at least for the time being.

This is an interesting move from the developers and publishers. The PlayStation 4 has sold incredibly well over the years, and this game being an exclusive could boost Sony’s numbers even more before their next console comes out. The game officially goes live on March 3, 2020.

Xbox One and PC users are probably disappointed, but PS4 users have a lot to be excited about. Final Fantasy 7 Remake retells the story of the original that came out for the PlayStation back in 1997.

The game revolves around Cloud Strike, who’s a mercenary and joins the eco-terrorist group AVALANCHE. Originally, Cloud Strike got into this fight to defeat the Shinra corporation, but he soon realizes a bigger plot.

What’s unique about this remake is it’s changing a lot of the features and graphics. Full polygonal graphics — for example — will be included instead of pre-rendered environments. This should immerse players even more in this fantastic and storied universe.

Much is being made of this remake’s real-time battle system. It’s actually drawing a lot of comparisons to the Kingdom Heart series. You can control Strike or his allies around, using weapons and magic. From everything that has been shown of the gameplay, Final Fantasy 7 Remake seems like one of the better installments to date.

It certainly is a must-have title if you’ve followed this series over the years. It will be interesting to see if Square Enix decides to change their decision about making this game purely for the PS4. Only time will tell, but stranger things have happened. Until then, Xbox One and PC users will have to just wait patiently.
