League of Legend’s new auto-chess game mode, Teamfight Tactics, has been live to the public for less than two weeks now and it has taken the gaming world by storm.
People have been consistently playing, streaming, and watching others try out the game mode – which currently ranks as the top most watched game on Twitch with an average of 105,000 viewers.
Teamfight Tactics has had such tremendous success already that it’s already getting its very first official tournament.
According to an announcement by Riot Games, “We’re inviting 64 Twitch streamers to battle for bragging rights and a piece of a $125,000 prize pool over the course of two days.”

The event will take place between July 17th and 18th, with 64 players splitting into two groups. Group One will compete during the first half of the first day, with Group Two finishing up through the late afternoon.
Between the two groups, sixteen players will advance to the next day where a final will be held to determine who will be the ultimate TFT champion.
The TFT tournament is running through Twitch Rivals, which, according to their homepage, “is a series of competitive events designed from the ground up for Twitch streamers and viewers.”
Twitch Rivals is set to encompass more than 100 different days of competitive play this year, which includes a variety of games, prize pools, and experiences for streamers and viewers alike.
The Teamfight Tactics Showdown is one of three current upcoming events for Twitch Rivals, alongside the Mortal Kombat Showdown Series and the Magic the Gathering Arena Team Draft Challenge.
Teamfight Tactics is a game based around strategical placements, careful item and champion selection, and RNG that can make or break a game.
Following a swift release, League of Legends has been quick to address bugs and balance issues within the game, while already gearing up to intertwine new additions and ways to keep TFT fun and exciting for players.
Around the same time that the tournament will take place, players can expect to start queueing up for the highly anticipated ranked play for TFT in an update that will also include a new champion and notable changes to the game.
The Teamfight Tactics Showdown will be aired on the Twitch Rival’s stream as well as through channels for each participating streamer.
Riot Games promises to share more details about who will be competing and how the event will take place on July 8th.
Until then, players can try out Teamfight Tactics via the League of Legends client or tune in to one of the thousands of streamers currently showing off their TFT strategies on Twitch.
