Leaked details aside, I’m more surprised that Fortnite is collaborating with Warner Bros. From what I gather, Fortnite partnered with Marvel, Star Wars, and even Nike, which is wild. Now it looks like they’re going for a special mode with Epic Games and Warner Bros. If true, this is very likely to be the biggest crossover event since the last Fortnite crossover event—and that’s no small feat.
Ever since Fortnite announced the possibility of Warner Bros collaborating with them, new rumors began coming out and a known rumor Leaker, ShiinaBR, dropped such a bombshell with only vague details of the leak. “Is/was in development,” as a viral teaser. It is honestly frustrating to hear such vague explanations. It’s the worst part of such rumors because there’s no concrete evidence to get behind. ShiinaBR, as always, strays away from committing to a leak, so it’s demotivating to hear such a half-hearted explanation.
Warner Bros is the company behind Batman, as one commenter cleverly remarked. Furthermore, Warner Bros owns DC Comics, Harry Potter, Game of Thrones, Looney Tunes, Scooby Doo, The Matrix, Mortal Kombat, and many more. The list literally goes on. They own half of pop culture.
In the replies, we saw more players engage in wild speculations over this. It seems like people are confused about whether this is related to Multiversus or the fighting platform that keeps getting updates. Some users commented wishing for a DC hero shooter within Fortnite, and honestly, that would be pretty cool. Imagine a real team mode with Raven, King Shark, or Harley Quinn. It would be absolutely insane.
Of course, people are asking for the classic Harley Quinn skin — and who could blame them? Fortnite has so many DC skins already, but heck, more is always welcome.
What is most fascinating are the comparisons to a Disney partnership that supposedly leaked a while back. One of the comments even joked about still waiting on that Disney “coop mode since 1924,” which, well, I can totally relate to. The Warner Bros ‘collab’ seems to be coming as a Warner ‘collab’ instead of whatever Disney had planned.
It also feels strange because Fortnite really never stopped taking on collaborations: Power Rangers, Xbox and PlayStation exclusives, The Simpsons, King of the Hill, and now potentially Warner Bros. It feels like they are trying to fit every other franchise into the game. To be fair to Fortnite, there was one person who joked around that it is “before WW3,” which is quite dark but I guess kinda accurate.
The confusion about whether or not this is still happening or is canceled is also problematic. The “is/was” wording has led to questions, with one person outright asking “So is it or is it not?” and with another person saying that it is likely still in development despite ambiguous wording.
And can we talk about the properties that are being speculated?? TikTok has already mentioned Harry Potter, Fortnite also has some Game of Thrones collab requests, there are Mario and Jerry contest predictions, someone has even brought up Ghostbusters skins returning, which YES PLEASE. The amount of properties that Warner Bros has really makes the collaboration go beyond our imagination.
One of the funniest things is the people thinking about the gameplay possibilities. Someone uploaded a video of Bugs Bunny saying “You had the drop, I had the jig,” which is exactly the chaotic energy a Warner Bros Fortnite mode would require. Imagine the absurdity of “getting eliminated by Daffy Duck,” that would be just the perfect mix of humiliating and amazing.
The way Warner Bros management is handled is a concern — one person warned “Zaslav don’t mess this up or write it off for taxes,” which is a very specific fear but, given Warner’s recent history, it’s a valid concern.
The Godzilla connection was also raised since Warner Bros takes care of the MonsterVerse movies, so maybe more Godzilla content?? The game already had that giant monster event, but there is always room for more.
Basically, Fortnite has collaborated with every major company. Like one person said Fortnite “didn’t leave any famous company,” and that is probably true. They have done collaborations from Marvel to DC, Star Wars, Nike, NFL, NBA, even Travis Scott and Ariana Grande. The list is ridiculous.
Thinking about this collaboration makes me wonder about the more creative aspects of Fortnite. The leak was from BeastFNCreative, which indicates Fortnite could be taking it beyond just skins. It could be an actual game mode within creative, and if that turns out to be true, the collaboration war will be something else to watch.
The speculation is everywhere — some guess it is connected to that Multiversus leak from a while back; others guess something else entirely. The fact that it’s termed as a “mode” makes it sound like it’s more than just cosmetics, so that in itself is exciting.
The Fortnite leaks typically come with odd little, spraying, masking, and caging mysteries, which infuriates people and humanity alike as they try to decode it. The inevitable questions as to why a particular tweet was uploaded with certain chosen imagery or what the overall meaning is tends to add to the chaos surrounding the leak.
Although, rumor has it, a Warner Bros mode could be the largest thing to ever hit Fortnite. Think about the plethora of properties Warner has that effortlessly blend into Fortnite. How much would you love a proper DC battle royale or a Harry Potter magical combat? Or even a Looney Tunes chaotic cartoon mode? The possibilities are endless.
As an added note, Fortnite is always looking for the next big thing, and keeping players engaged is a priority. The Warner Bros collaboration, after all, would definitely count as the next big thing. On top of that, the way it looks after all the other collaborations Fortnite has been working on, I think they are building to something big.
It’s a given that there are huge projects Epic’s working on, though it is still unclear if this mode is canceled or not. No one really knows, but most of these big projects tend to see the light of day, and that seems to be the case with this one.
Fortnite players should definitely keep an eye on this one. Warner Bros’ collaboration might rescript the game, or they can simply keep it as an ordinary collaboration that brings new skins and items. Either way, Fortnite is consistently welcoming collaboration content, which only feeds the cycle.
