If you’ve been watching for the last month or two, then you’ve heard the buzz. For those who missed out, there’s G2 VALORANT, who’s been astounding everyone as of late. They’ve just claimed their third consecutive Americas championship. Not just consecutive, that’s a clean three-peat in a row which clearly qualifies as outstanding, not just dominance.
The team’s official Twitter account posted, “THE GOLDEN ERA OF VALORANT. PURE DOMESTIC DOMINATION. BACK-TO-BACK-TO-BACK AMERICAS CHAMPIONS.” I’ve never agreed with anyone on Twitter more than I do with that tweet because there’s nothing like trying to claim PURE DOMESTIC DOMINATION in esports, and they quite arguably did.
Their tower of hype is obvious the moment you look at the replies to their announcement tweets. The players themselves are going wild in the comments. A user named KoEzin said “GOLD3N ERA BABY 🏆🏆🏆” and DaK responded with “UNDENIABLE!!!” in the comments, which really encapsulates the sentiment.
The excitement spreads too far when one user asks if this is the first time in history, for any esport, that a team has won all three regional tournaments consecutively. From my search, cashing all three locks consecutively has never happened and therefore it’s a first and a one of a kind event for VALORANT esports. Their dominance is, as a matter of fact, out of this world.
The team’s roster consists of legendary players such as JonahP, leaf, trent, valyn, jawgemo, BabyBay, JoshRT, shank, and Anderzz. These players have come to symbolize legendary talent in competitive VALORANT. Their presence in any tournament spells a relentless pursuit of the winning trophy.
One of the funniest replies came from a user named xixi who said, “btw i crashed my car while golden era was playing so i think i took away all the negative energy for you guys” that struck me funny yet a touch disturbing. Maybe as a general note, don’t crash your car while watching esports. That said, this certainly shows an unusual level of dedication.
There is also some spicy banter – a user with the name BSBUseless said, “When does this americas region get difficult?” and that just comes off as trolling. Like, my guy, they just three-peated, maybe show some respect? But that’s esports Twitter for you – always someone ready with the hot take.
One of the nicer things is having the organization interacting with fans. The G2 VALORANT account replied to a fan with “♥ kub” which is just some positive vibes. It’s nice seeing a team engage with their fans.
The phrase Golden Era is repeated in the replies over and over and it is quickly becoming a chant for the team and its supporters. Super_shyz said, “GOLDEN ERA UNTOUCHABLE LFGGG” and frankly, they are correct. You really do feel untouchable when a team is as dominant as they are.
Another esports account, Esportunity, quoted a statement claiming to be the team’s motto: “BEING CHAMPIONS IS INEVITABLE,” which is dripping with the most confident energy one could get. It’s like they’re not wishing to win, but saying they will win. That’s champion mentality at its peak.
Players like AriLockzz are clearly all in on the hype, actively commenting “[3PEAT BTCHHH](javascript:void(0))” which, honestly, is the same energy. The excitement is radiating from every comment section.
There is an additional layer of impressive execution that involves consistency. One win is hard enough to earn. Two in a row is incredible. But three? Well, that crosses over into legendary. This is not just talent. This is heart, this is teamwork, this is a grind to maintain a championship level over multiple tournaments.
Recognition is boiling over for the competitive VALORANT scene, and having a VALORANT squad execute such a “dynasty” so early on is a huge positive. It generates storylines, rivalries, and goals for new players. Everyone is chomping at the bit to be the squad that finally bests the champions.
From what I am gathering, G2 is THE regional powerhouse in the Americas. Everyone facing off against them has an inkling that they will be in for a tough battle, because they will be facing the best. Such reputation doesn’t come out of nowhere, it is earned over time by being the best, well, and winning everything.
What I find most unbelievable is the fact that they don’t appear to be gearing down. Peacemaker0009 calls it “Light work” in his comment, making it seem like this is just the start. As if it doesn’t serve any other function, like any other day at the office for them. It’s a combination of dread for their competitors and excitement for everyone else.
As the VALORANT esports scene garners attention and tournaments expand, the spotlight will be on G2 as they try to maintain their incredible streak. Can they make it four? Five? I wouldn’t be shocked at this point.
Until further notice, they are soaking in what they so aptly labeled as the “Golden Era.” Whether you’re in hardcore VALORANT circles or not, G2 is doing something special to the game unlike ever before and all of us are fortunate enough to witness it. This level of GENIUS play is beyond FUN to watch.
So, remember this moment. If you ever want to get reminded about the excellence in VALORANT, just recall – Three-peat champions. Domestic domination. Golden Era. These keywords will always drench you in the madness of how crazy these times are in competitive VALORANT.
