Fortnite players logging in today would be REALLY pleased to discover that Epic has restored server functionality, for new free cosmetics and all. There’s a new Ninja Blitz Boss outfit, a maskless version of the Mask Maker Daigo skin, and two new loading screens called ‘Look Up!’ and ‘Heroes Unite.’
ShiinaBR, always reliable, sent out a hype tweet about the news by shouting “SERVERS ARE UP 🔥” then listing the new unlocks. If one asks what any battle royale fan equates to the servers coming up after maintenance, few answers would indeed be “anything less than Christmas morning”.
Here is where it starts to get interesting. Most players seem to be receiving their toys without any hiccup; however, there’s some conflicting info around whether the “Heroes Unite” loading screen has been delivered. A number of replies to Shiina’s tweet have lately said they haven’t received it, while others have claimed they received it a long time ago. Like, “Did anyone else miss out on the Heroes Unite Loading Screen? I swear I didn’t get it!” asked by s09yuri. Meanwhile, Apollo2340 clarifies that it was “from claiming all the bonus battle pass rewards” quite some time ago.
A skin that is certainly garnering some publicity is The Mask Maker Daigo. WksMeka stated, “vos estabas pidiendo un estilo sin mascara del nuevo daigo” (translation: “you were asking for a maskless style of the new Daigo”), confirming the community’s desire for this very variant. On the flip side, Danuhau lamented, “Still no badass fire style for Daigo,” and shared a screenshot of what looks like a fiery style that is yet to hit the game.
Now one of the drops that will possibly cause the most division with Ninja Blitz Boss is one. Napo0044 said it bluntly: “ion need ninja blitz boss, that’s a trash tbh,” while elsewhere, people were obviously just so happy to have it in their locker. Such is the life of free cosmetics—unless loved by all, there will be that voice of opposition.
Without the drama about loading screens, maybe one could come across real tea from some others. User crota_66 asked “what this is,” linking to what looks to be a leaked image of future content, and L3o117 sort of wonders if a certain image “could be real” with suspiciously linked images in tow. Typical Fortnite community conduct—honestly chasing after the next big scoop.
And then there’s Missing Input, who comes in with one of the random comment: “Preordering Borderlands 4 on Epic Games Store gives you the Mad Moxxi Bundle in Fortnite.” Because, you know, somewhere somehow there’s a random collab.
In a way, free stuff is free stuff. If not to everyone’s taste, and some certainly aren’t, there is one clear thing: gamers are ready to get back into the game and start pimping their characters with new options. On the other side, ElderberryVr lamented, “no ballistic content even though it was promised for July? wth,” indicating that Epic still has some promises to keep.
The servers are online, cosmetics are flowing, mostly, and the Fortnite community is doing what they best – celebrating, complaining, and speculating, sometimes all at once. Another day down in fortniteland. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I’mma go find out if I got that loading screen everyone’s been arguing about…
