Alright, gamers, strap yourselves in as we reluctantly take another look at Silksong news after what seemed an eternity. The Team Cherry folks are going to be showcasing a brand new Hollow Knight: Silksong demo for Gamescom at the Xbox booth to be played on PC and Rog Ally. That is, of course, if you read that correctly. NEW DEMO. A tidbit allegedly leaked from a Geoff Keighley tweet that immediately spun Annious Hypers in Hype Hollow Knight with desperate begging for release dates.
Right off the bat, let’s get into what we actually know. Going by the now known facts, the actual new demo will be at the Xbox booth. What is funny here is that it’s not really an Xbox. The demo will be playable on PC and the ROG Ally. Which some gamers were quick to point out, like @MagnumGamingPS5, who apparently just said, “So basically PC.” Fair enough, right? But hey, at least it’s something.
One could hardly imagine any better tweet reactions being given, given how emotional this is. @EternalRedGamer straight-up demanded: “Just give me a release date!” while @30M20K said: “WTH is taking them so long to release this game…” Well, that’s kind of the general mood. The announcement of Silksong came six years ago, and this wait has been very, very, very hard. @CoolerShredder put it out there: “There was a demo at some earlier point? This game has been floating in the ether for 6 years now, give a trailer and release date already.”
However, not everyone was in that mood; as the hype grew on. @InfernoOmni clearly overstated his case when he said, “…I need it.” @helyearelyea followed suit with, “I want this so bad.” And then, @LORD__GR summed it all up: “Finally 😭♥️.” Real excitement here.
And then the memes hit. @DoctorHouseReal shared a rush clip with the caption, “People trying to get to the silksong demo table.” And @CraziedAres would be “throwing men down for that controller in Cologne” (admitting that they probably weren’t). Classic.
Naturally, there were some skeptics. @Nnhhhgghhh said outright, “I don’t believe you.” @NorthAndAHalf followed by asking, “Is this bait?” You can’t really fault them-putting yourself in their shoes, how could you really not be a little suspicious after all these silent years?
Nevertheless, here is the deal-this is real. A new demo is watching; what bigger may it be? It means Team Cherry is still working on the game; hopefully, we are closer than ever to hands-on experience with the full-thrust. Will Gamescom be the place we get our release date? No idea. For now, though, lucky attendees will get to experience it.
You’re wondering why it’s taken so long? Well, good games take time. Hollow Knight was a masterpiece, and if Silksong is even half as good, trust me-it’ll be worth the wait.
So, Gamescom just got a bit more intense. If you’re going, make sure the Xbox booth is on your map for exploration. For the rest of us? Yeah, well, a whole lot of living vicariously through streams and tweets.
And Team Cherry? Please. For the love of all-things bug-related. Give us a release date already.
