The gates of the VALORANT Night Market have fully opened, and the players have gone crazy in one way or another-not to say some with delight and others with sheer frustration. Riot Games has released another batch of discounted skins, and, just like always, the fandom is split between those who managed to snag the big deals and those who are… well, some may consider them a disappointment.
First of all: what even is this Night Market? For the uneducated, it is a temporary shop in VALORANT where players are offered 6 random weapon skins at discount rates. The catch? Players cannot choose what comes up. Imagine it as a light version of a loot box. Reactions did vary, too.
Absolutely gutsy tops: Nikhil Srivastava (@sri0nik) shared his spoils with pride, whereas Tempest 嵐 (@ghkasra1384) snagged an Oni Phantom skin with a 40% discount and claimed it immediately. Marlin (@ValorantMarlin) thinks this market is better than most, which is praise enough in the RNG skin drop realm.
On the flip side of a win, someone is just staring at the screen in disbelief. Slay●sunoo● (@DjualanSir_) even proceeded to put his brand out there, calling his selection “trashhh shiballl” (ouch). Others, such as Silhouette (@Silhouette_xD) got skins for guns they barely know how to hold well, which only added salt to a wound for the obvious sting of not getting something cool-looking. Then there is vexx (@tbvexx3) with anguished tweets about dragging an Aemondir Bulldog skin-just apparently not “the flex.”
Yet, the really great drama was in the remarks. CLOVE (@CLOVE_PHOBIA) couldn’t decide whether or not they should be snatching a discounted skin, and off went gamers arguing both for and against purchasing. Meanwhile, while before-the-chaos bonds were forged between ChefSluggah (@ChefSluggah) and Tempest 嵐 over the mutual appreciation of Minima Vandal.
Should one drop their hard-earned cash on these skins or not? The likes of dre. (@ndreagst) were torn over which of two accounts they really wanted to buy from; Vortex (@vortex466) meanwhile bided their time, hesitated for a moment, and then went through with the purchase. So it’s a gamble in both theory and practice.
Where, then, does this conclude? The Night Market, as ever, is mixed. Some walk away with the skins of their dreams at a steal while others get…,”bunch of shite,” as eloquently phrased by @a_yoga_s. But hey, isn’t that what makes it fun?
Celebrating or bemoaning their fortunes, one thing is quite clear: VALORANT players are second to none in the passion they show for cosmetics. Reaction-wise, that is counted as a win for Riots. Or a catastrophe, depending on your view.
Back to grinding_until_arrival_of_next_market_drop. Hopefully, you’ll be next to have a story to tell. Or maybe not.
