The Future Icons Event for Apex Legends is coming towards the finish line, and Respawn Entertainment alerted everybody of its scheduled concluding date of July 15. And while the official tweet urges the gamers to get into the game “before it’s too late,” well, the reply section has been… really interestingly mixed.
Naturally, there are exclusive rewards, skins, and challenges to pick up, as is the usual within Apex Events; however, judging by the replies, the majority of the playerbase does not seem to enjoy the event. Some are outright refusing to partake in it, while others have gone on rallying their grievances against the current game.
Then there comes some jabbing, such as the one directing by user TN420x: “Haven’t been able to load into a single ARENAS: Duels game on PC for the past 4 days straight.” Ouch. How on earth can you complete event challenges if you can’t even play the game? Then there is WoHype just not sugarcoating it: “Keep your shit and fix EOMM, SBMM or whatever you may call it.”
Oh, server problems, eh? That seems to be a regular concern. MiniMuffinBoi added, “My game has been lagging way more lately since the server migration. I wanna keep playing but when everything is teleporting around I can’t exactly shoot anyone.” How can one basically blood-soak an experience demanding precision?
And then comes the… uh, epic debate over cosmetics. TheRoverAC refused to be vague: “By far the worst event cosmetics I’ve seen. Sorry but this event wasn’t even good.” JamesHalliday94 chimed in to suggest that Respawn needs to have a very serious chat with their skin design team. Ouch.
Of course, not everyone is salty about this. Lala12976853 certainly loves that Wattson skin, at least, and cybercatsgg has dropped a reference picture that could well be hinting at some hush-hush event markings—to absolutely no avail, thus far.
Then, there’s the… uh, heated debate between LisanAllGaib and theFLmanDanmufc about solo players versus team play. Let’s say it went personal real quick. Words like “skill issue,” “3 stack meta abuser,” and “dead game” were deliberately thrown around like grenades in a closing circle.
So what are we to take from this? The Guardians of the Future Icons Event are wrapping up; however, whether or not players feel like jumping in would rest heavily on how much they can overlook further issues of the present game: server-side stability, matchmaking, and cosmetic quality all come forth in limelight—and Respawn will need some sharpening if they want their next event to proceed with less friction.
For now, grinding until July 15 will reward you with any packaging of your choice, but judging by comments, the bulk of the player base seems to be shelving the game until the next big fix or the next season is out.
Well… Sentinel is still broken, which our very own Exot1c_FPS just elegantly showed. So that’s something.
