A new trailer for Bayonetta 3 focuses on the game’s story, showcasing the game’s Multiverse and its many incarnations of Bayonetta. As the game’s release date approaches, Nintendo and PlatinumGames have been showing off a lot of gameplay footage. Some examples of these changes are a new cast member for Bayonetta and altered mechanics for the Umbra witch. This latest teaser, released with the game’s release date just a few weeks away, expands on the game’s multiverse premise.
Multiple Bayonettas have been seen in details and trailers for Bayonetta 3 this year, lending credence to the multiverse theory that has circulated since the game’s re-reveal last year. Seeing how numerous iterations of the umbra are showcased in this clip and the title of the video is “Bayonettas Everywhere? “it would appear that this idea is correct.
The teaser for Bayonetta 3 opens on a sour note, showing a version of Bayonetta that looks quite similar to her original appearance, being murdered by an unknown assailant, disintegrating into red crystals as she advises the young Viola to flee. Later, this unknown entity begins fighting modern-day Bayonetta. At this point, she realizes the attacker is from another planet. Numerous others, including Jeanne and Viola, suggest that this person’s name is Singularity.
One version of Bayonetta in the teaser sports a bright white cloak and pink hair; in this version, she befriended a spider demon called Phantasmaraneae. As a result of her spiderlike appearance, Bayonetta 3’s Masquerade forms allow her to swing around on a string reminiscent of a web and attack with all eight of her limbs. Additionally, a Bayonetta who appears to have followed the path of a Lumen Sage, complete with Angelic summons, and a chic blonde Bayonetta with an intelligent blue hat and mask, also make appearances. As far as I can tell, the trailer is building them up to be potential bosses the player will have to face.
