With the arrival of Call of Duty: WWII into the wildly popular Xbox Game Pass library, a celebration ensued. Yet, celebrations were short-lived as the replies to the tweet were flooded with complaints about broken multiplayer servers. The tweet basically said, “added one more to the collection!” along with a pic of Call of Duty: WWII. Subscribers could not even begin to describe their frustration about not being able to play the very game they were supposed to be given.

And things got messy real quick. One player, Frost_shotU, unleashed in the replies, stating, calling out Xbox Game Pass for what they called a “complete robbery.” Reports abounded that the multiplayer servers were either being completely knocked out or freeze mid-game, thus impeding the experience. And here’s the kicker: Some said the trouble was even popping up in LOCAL matches, which shouldn’t even in theory require servers. Yikes.

These were far from mere technical problems. Some players outright demanded refunds, others threatened to cancel their subscription, while an especially spicy reply from Frost_shotU went, “There’s gonna be a bomb in your ass if u dudes don’t fix MP!!!!” which… yeah, I guess that’s one way to get your point across.

Meanwhile, the requests for more older titles continued to pour in: Modern Warfare Remastered, Black Ops 1 and 2, and World at War among others. Another player named Holy_lettuce made a point for the 360-era COD games, claiming that Game Pass “stonks would be 📈📈📈” if they did so. Hard to argue with that one.

But a few weren’t angry about it. Others seemed pleased to see another COD put in the mix. That Ambient Gamer chimed in, “That Ambient Gamer reporting for Duty!” while Avery|Smile just had to admit, “I literally bought this yesterday…..”

The question now is whether these remaining servers will be given a close inspection by Xbox or just be left to wither on the vine. With threats of lawsuits and bombings, you’d think somebody would want to fix this yesterday. That probably needs to be a problem that is fixed for the single-player campaign…probably.

Until then, if you had plans of diving into Game Pass’ Call of Duty: WWII tonight, maybe… just don’t. Unless freezing screens and screaming into the void is your brand of fun. And you know what? Go crazy with it.
