The Call of Duty franchise is absolutely killing it right now. The battle royale game Warzone has dominated the charts in such a short period of time. Aside from its free-to-play design, it’s extremely approachable. You can join a session and begin having success right out of the gate.
Before Warzone, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare captured all of the headlines. It’s one of the best first-person shooters that Infinity Ward has ever produced. The multiplayer section is particularly amazing, even still in 2020. If you have yet to check out its diverse modes and compelling maps, this weekend is your chance.
Activision is having a free weekend for Modern Warfare’s main multiplayer. You just have to be a Warzone player. The trial starts tomorrow and lasts all the way through Monday. All you have to do is log into Warzone and go to the Stocked Up/Locked Down playlist. From there, you’ll have access to two maps and a bevvy of modes. These include Team Deathmatch, Hardpoint, Kill Confirmed, and Domination. Each one has something amazing to offer.
Domination is action-packed and involves you capturing and defending various zones on a map. The first person that reaches the score limit wins. It has definitely been a hit out of the gate. Hardpoint also has garnered a lot of positive feedback. It works a lot like King of the Hill, with the team with the most points at the end winning.
If you’re looking for some classic action, though, Team Deathmatch is superb. Even though it has been pretty much the same in every Call of Duty installment, it’s a beloved mode that always gets the adrenaline pumping.
The two maps that Warzone players have access to are Atlas Superstore and Shoot House. The former is amazing in terms of forcing closer quarters battles. You’re locked in tight with opposing players where you’ll have to be quick on the trigger. Infinity Ward really nailed down its design.
Shoot House, similarly, also leads to fast and intense action. It’s one of the smallest maps currently available in Modern Warfare. Both maps are designed beautifully and will leave you with hours of fun competitive action to look forward to. It’s great to see Activision merging both Warzone and Modern Warfare together. They’re different, but both great in terms of gameplay. This weekend is your chance to get in on the multiplayer action and see what you’ve been missing.
