And so began a cascade of bickerings concerning the very notion of the “best Vandal skin.” A few recent tweets by VALORANTLeaksEN asked the gamers to select a favorite skin to choose out of this foursome: EX.O, CYRAX, Divergence, and Phaseguard. Meanwhile, the replies were not unanimous.
First, the Vandal receives the highest praise from the EX.O Vandal fanbase. The lovely laywoman of Venus (@kalliaste) openly declared her love for the EX.O Vandal with the phrase “EX. O xoxox,” whereas Seraph (@OmarJaffri) deemed EX.O as the easy winner among the four. The consensus does not agree, though: either some say it’s overrated, or others outright say they like the others better.
Then there’s Phaseguard with some weird amount of acclaim. Ajax/Mizuki (@mizookabazooka) hailed its inspect animation with the words, “Divergence is so good but i love how we hold the phaseguard on inspect.” Venezio (@OfficialVenezio), on the other hand, called it a skin with the “recon feeling.” The dissenting opinions, however, label it as “meh.”
CYRAX fanatics? They’re here, cornered. Clean (@maybeclean) said: “CYRAX enjoyer. I don’t care about anybody else’s opinion.” And then, on the contrary: Some deem it a skin of no worth; one even said, jokingly, that “my 5-year-old cousin could design better skins.” Oof.
And Divergence had yet another unnamed cult. Jetpacks (@kylejetpacks) gave it the title of best out of the four, but Primordium goes right on top for him. Then we have the wild cards—those that refused to settle on any of the choices; Ren (@just_sum_loser) roasted all of the skins identified in the poll, and others named skin favorites outside of the poll, like Gaia or Champion Vandal 2021.
If you wanted the real drama, you could find it in the reply chain. One player, @Jim_Tu7, was dragged through the mud and bashed for loving CYRAX, whereas @mocrews1 simply called it “trash.” Entering from the sidelines was turtle (@turtle0aim), dropping the comments, “God forbid a dude has his own personal preference,” and turning another thread into an all-out debate on personal preference.
What is still true at the end of the day is that VALORANT players do indeed have passion for their skins. One firm truth: be it Team EX.O, Phaseguard, or CYRAX – those skins got people talking. To be honest, could be the best thing ever for the scene.
