Following the bombshell announcement for the Tomb Raider: Definitive Survivor Trilogy, Square Enix has thrown down the gauntlet, packaging all three of the Lara Croft reboot-era adventures into one grand bundle. The Internet had OH MUCH TO SAY about that.

The gritty origin story Tomb Raider of 2013 was the first; 2015 brought Rise of the Tomb Raider, which boasts gorgeous landscapes and glaciers; and from 2018, the jungles of Shadow of the Tomb Raider, which are intended for stealth-but what about the dances? Fasten the seatbelt, as people’s corner of the debates is getting fiercer than Lara herself escaping a collapsing temple.

Prior to that, the official Tomb Raider Twitter account had announced the news but done so with some juicy descriptions for each game. The 2013 reboot was called out for its “haunted island of ancient horrors” (true); Rise was appraised for its “stunning vistas” (true as well), while Shadow was praised for having “dense jungles designed for stealth” (debatable, but that’s beside the point). Quickly, the very strong opinions appeared in the reply section about which should be crowned.

@RoyalTYReezy jumped in with, “Shadow of the Tomb Raider was my favorite one of the 3,” while @starrituals fired back with, “Rise is my favorite 🥲❤️ But I loved TR 2013’s story more 🤭.” Meanwhile, @PCroftl4 just screamed, “Tomb Raider 2013 my BELOVED 🫶,” as if ready to take up arms over it! The passion is REAL, y’all.

However, not everyone is celebrating. @BulldozerFire straight up demanded, “We need new games 😞,” echoing many veterans’ sentiments after years of remasters with no new mainline entries. And then @bossy_katt dropped this sassy comeback: “Girl- Not the trilogy we want!” accompanied by a side-eye gif that says it all. OOF.

Let’s talk about technical complaints- @NathanRaiders chimed in, saying, “Rise Of The Tomb Raider needs an update tho for series…badly because on Xbox series she been glitching a lot.” Meanwhile @jesstality went all scandalous, “remaster tomb raider 2013 the graphics are so bad and the combat is terrible 😭,” which… okay that’s a take. A spicy one.

Now to the actual MVPs: The completionists. @DudeKyleRaider went off with “Goated Trilogy. I’ve 100% all 3 of them,” prompting @DavidPallino to interrogate “And did you beat all 3 of em and max difficulty” as if they were grilling @DudeKyleRaider for some Top Secret gaming information. @batou655 kept it simple, asserting, “It is simple, I love all the episodes and i finished them all!” Like eating popcorn peacefully while watching a fight unfold from the fandom.

Another wholesome one: @wawa_cwoft noted casually “Just bought this on Steam the other day, yep yep! 🙂” like somebody expected this. Or maybe they’re a time traveler. We might as well not rule that out.

What remains next for Tomb Raider? The trilogy is already out, and demand for more is deafening; that is, PS5 upgrades (shoutout to @RealExho for asking, “Will there be PS5 versions?”), fixes to the prior installments, or even better, a new game. Sure enough, Lara Croft’s name is still the hot topic, spawning arguments, memes, and undying loyalty through different generations of gamers. Now if you’ll excuse us, we’re off to go re-play all three games… again. For research. Obviously.

And whoever tweeted “@tombraider Hey Lexi can’t wait to see you on your shift at tescos,” seek help. Just… just do it.
