Westworld has been a tremendously popular show on HBO over the past few years. The very first episode debuted back in 2016. The first season was so successful -- in fact -- that it ranked number one for HBO's most-watched season one series. That's quite an impressive feat for this sci-fi-based show.

When the first season came out, HBO also unveiled a small-scale VR experience. It wasn't the most in-depth VR title by any means, but it helped market the show and give fans an idea of the themes and plots they're about to experience. It was only a matter of time before we got a full-fledged VR experience, which is what Westworld Awakening seems to be.

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=ItRY962U2d0

This is a much deeper VR experience that was developed by studio Survios. It's currently out now for various VR headsets, including the Oculus Rift, HTC Vive, and the Vive Pro. This narrative-based experience puts you in the shoes of Kate. She's an android that has just recently attained self-awareness.

This concept has been portrayed many times in movies and video games, but in Westworld Awakening, the themes seem to be a lot more intense. How does an android who's realized she isn't real cope with existing in the same reality as humans? That's what you'll have to figure out as Kate, who seems like a pretty likable character.

The game takes place during the events in Season 2 of Westworld. You'll have the chance to delve deeper into your own existence by navigating through Delos' laboratories and offices. This isn't just a walking simulator, either. There will be mazes and puzzles you'll have to problem-solve. They provide a decent challenge, but not to the point of frustration.

Adding to the tension is Hank. He's a serial killer host set on stopping your pursuits of self-discovery. As you comb through every nook and cranny of this facility, he'll be on your tail. You never really know where he'll pop up, so you're constantly on edge. Don't let him catch you, though, because he has lethal intentions.

The entire world is keen on destroying you, it seems. No allies or friends can help you now. As Kate, you'll have to brave this new world with hopes of finding some sort of existence and peace. If you're a fan of this show or are just looking for a thrilling VR experience to enjoy first-hand, Westworld Awakening is the title for you.
