When EA broke the news about their upcoming expansion pack at the 2019 E3 event, longtime fans of The Sims games were over the moon about the new tropical-themed world.

Island Living was made available to PC users on June 21st for $39.99, and most players can agree that it’s a beautiful addition to the game.

One of the most highly anticipated features added by Island Living are mermaids – mystical creatures who come with beautiful flowing hair and even more stunning scales and tails.

Mermaids have two forms in the game, allowing them to walk around on land as a regular Sim and transform into a mermaid when in water, providing them with a variety of options such as sleeping underwater and sun-tanning.

Mermaids can also interact with another new addition – dolphins. The playful creatures can be named, touched, and even fed. By doing so, players can befriend the social animals by meeting up with them at buoys or swimming out to call them closer to shore.

Just like real people, Sims require their needs to be met in order for them to thrive and survive. While these basic needs typically include eating, drinking, and having fun, mermaids rely heavily on hydration to keep them content.

On the isle of Sulani, it’s easy to stay hydrated with multiple beaches available to visit intertwined with gorgeous scenery. The island isn’t just home to mermaids, though.

Island Living also immerses players into the culture of Sulani, which, according to The Sims 4 official page, includes “attending a pit barbecue event, learning about local folklore, tasting tropical delicacies, and chatting with ancestors from the island.”

Players can also enjoy all of the fun-loving perks expected from a tropical getaway-inspired location – such as building sand castles, snorkeling in the ocean, and even relaxing at a local tiki bar.

The Island Living expansion pack also offers a variety of new ways for Sims to expand their lifestyles, by providing occupations that fit the island theme – from conservationists who keep the world in pristine condition to divers who explore the depths, there are tons of ways to enjoy the blend of scenery and culture.

So far, Island Living has received a lot of praise from PC players and is highly anticipated on PS4 and Xbox One for its upcoming release date on July 16th.

As one of the most beautiful and interactive expansion packs to date, The Sims 4 Island Living is definitely worth trying out.
