It’s not surprising to hear that physical sales are performing just as well after Xenoblade Chronicles 3 soared to the top of the Switch eShop charts across all territories last weekend.
The greatest release for the game in that region, as well as one of the top five retail debuts for the Nintendo Switch in 2022, was achieved by Xenoblade Chronicles 3 in the UK.
The statistics are, as per usual, from GamesIndustry.biz editor Christopher Dring, who evaluates the data from the British research and analytic firm GfK.
Dring’s study claims that Xenoblade Chronicles 3 outperformed the Wii and Nintendo 3DS games, Xenoblade Chronicles 2, Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition, and Xenoblade Chronicles X as the series’ best launch in the UK.
In addition, the game is ranked sixth overall among the best Nintendo Switch releases of 2022, a ranking that is again restricted to the physical.
Market or cartridge games, which is what this data covers. In this comparison, Xenoblade Chronicles 3 falls below Kirby and the Lost Land, Nintendo Switch Sports, LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga, Pokémon Legends: Arceus, and Nintendo Switch.
However, as indicated by the foreign ratings, Xenoblade Chronicles 3 garnered overwhelmingly good reviews from critics. It is clear that the audience shared this enthusiasm as they had high expectations for the third installment to be one of the most significant games of 2022.
The third installment of Monolith Soft’s acclaimed RPG series appears to have overtaken previous Xenoblade physical launches in the UK.
This places it ahead of Xenoblade Chronicles 2 and the Nintendo Switch Definitive Edition re-release of the original game, per GfK data. Even the Xenosaga series can’t compare to it!
Xenoblade Chronicles 2’s predecessor sold more than 2 million copies, and the Switch Definitive Edition of the first game has moved more than 1.5 million units.
