Even though October is drawing to a close, there’s still a little time for PS Plus members to pick up some free games. That’s one of the major perks of subscribing to this program. Halloween is fast-approaching, which means now’s the perfect time to pick up The Last of Us Remastered. It’s still available for PS Plus members and is one of the best games to come out for the PlayStation 4.

The remastered version includes a lot of great things, such as better graphics. Walking around the post-apocalyptic settings is a true treat in 4K on the PS4 Pro. It’s the true definitive way to experience this epic action-adventure game. It also includes a lot of content — including Ellie’s side story called Left Behind. Eight additional maps are also included in the multiplayer mode, which has a strong backing from fans even to this day.

As far as the base experience, you would be hard-pressed to find a better game depicting zombies. The controls are like those featured in the Uncharted series. They’re fluid and easy to master, even if you don’t have a lot of experience playing these sort of games.

The game kicks off with a virus infection that’s turning everyone into zombies. The game features two protagonists: Joel and Ellie. They’re a great team that you root for from the very beginning of they’re journey. The developers at Naughty Dog did a phenomenal job with their backstory and showing some of their more vulnerable states. It’s what you would expect during a time of death and disease.

Never before has the zombie genre of gaming really delved deep into characters like what Naughty Dog did with Joel and Ellie. Throughout this game’s story, they’re forced into some pretty difficult decisions. There is tension that will stay with you even long after you’ve stopped playing. That’s always a mark of a great game.

If you have a PS4, this is one of those games you can’t pass up. It’s one of the best video games let alone PS4 exclusives. It has done a beautiful job at setting up the sequel, The Last of Us Part 2 — which is one of the most anticipated games of 2020.
