One of the better racing series in the past couple of years has been Dirt. These games put ralley-racing front and center, where every maneuver has serious implications. The series is beloved by many and it’s not hard to see why. It just is such an authentic and adrenaline-pumping experience.

Fans have been excited for the release of Dirt 5 for some time now. Fortunately, they now have some gameplay to feast their eyes on — which was introduced in a trailer at Microsoft’s Inside Xbox event early today. It was a special occasion showing the Xbox Series X in greater detail. This is one of the first times we’ve seen the Xbox Series X in action so as you might imagine, the gaming community has been buzzing with what they saw.

Codemasters has confirmed an October release for the game, which will be available on both the Xbox One and Xbox Series X. However, if you purchase it on the older system and then get the Series X, you won’t have to purchase another copy. It will be completely free to transfer over, which is nice for those possibly looking to check out the game on Xbox One until the Series X officially launches this holiday season.

Without further ado, let’s get into the trailer. It’s first worth mentioning these shots were captured in engine. We see some racing sequences featuring a wide variety of ralley cars and different settings. It looks like Dirt 5 will be even more open compared to previous installments. That should give rise to more epic racing moments for fans, whether they’re hitting mud trails solo or completing challenges with friends.

Visually, the trailer looks stunning. It’s incredible seeing mud getting kicked up by the sliding vehicles and the beautiful elements you’ll have to brave. It’s hard to say if these visuals will be the exact same for users when actually playing, but it never hurts to hope. The Xbox Series X is a beast of a machine and on paper, has the ability to take gaming to the next level visually.

Either way, we’ll soon find out this October. Dirt 5 looks like a very competent sequel that’s improving on a lot of important aspects. All in all, it was a pretty successful reveal for Codemasters and the Xbox Series X. Now we’ll just have to wait and see how the game performs on next-gen hardware. It’s a very exciting time for Dirt and Microsoft fans.
