Shepherd XP appeared just recently in the Division 2, and everybody is rushing into the game. Some do so with glee; some just curse profusely. Until the 3rd of June, this event demands the Agents to help each other; in return, they would work on further activities and receive their rewards more speedily. It sounds great in terms of principle. But can we dare say that it tragically fails on implementation?

We are getting a little ahead of ourselves. It is tied to the idea that players of higher rank are assisting others in need. Faster XP and better rewards: what could possibly be wrong with that? Well, complaints have been pouring in from players about everything ranging from missing the advertised gear to game-breaking bugs. Fabiano_banin went on a rage when all of his exotic gear in the stash suddenly ceased to exist. Poof! A disappearance. At first, there was confusion as Ubisoft Support tried to tell him it was only “visual,” then they said, fast travel to DC and back. Spoiler alert: That worked for Banin, but it hasn’t been anyone else’s lucky break.

Then there’s matchmaking. Or rather lack thereof. David Weir and others have called the system broken as they have been waiting for Calls for Help for an hour now. Traditional matchmaking is a tentative guarantee for quick join. If you do get in, then good luck staying in. Crashes will now wipe your progress mid-game and dump you out to the desktop. Snkagil summarily said it best: “Great improvement, really. Keep up the good work 🫤.”

Brooklyn’s DLC will have plenty of chaos all its own. Nocta Onyx gets loop-stuck trying to report onto the bridge for the mission, with no prompts or NPCs to interact with. Others are unable to fast travel to Brooklyn and subsequently get kicked back to the White House. And, er, missing Twitch drops yet again for PlayStation is getting shadowpink07 all worked up,

Well, at least the rewards look great… if you can get them. Javier Nuñez is super hype about the Shepherd rank maxing after it got introduced, something akin to a mini-pass like he saw in the Chinese version. RagedRestricted is not really having any of that, calling Ubisoft a “massive scam” for the Ultimate Edition missing premium credits. MrTimeKeeper_ echoed the sentiment, no credits, no explanation.

Is it worth engaging in? Some say hell yeah. It is an XP boost for all grinders. Others say it’s a bug-ridden mess that will give one more headaches than help. Ubisoft has all the time till June 3rd to correct it. Let’s hope they do. ‘Cause right now, apart from goodwill, the list of grey glitches is spreading faster.
