Square Enix’s Dragon Quest of the Stars mobile game was initially launched in 2015 but only in Japan. The game is a free-to-play RPG that relies on touch controls.

Now players will have the opportunity to play Dragon Quest of the Stars almost five years after its initial release.

The YouTube description states: “The highly popular RPG mobile game from Japan is finally releasing its Closed Beta Test for Global! With over 78 million copies sold worldwide, the hit RPG series Dragon Quest is now coming to mobile! Explore the planet and fight monsters in this adventure RPG!”

Dragon Quest of the Stars allows players to explore a new planet. The game has up to four different playable characters. There’s not much information available for the new title. The screenshots only show a boss fight where four fighters are trying to take down an enemy.

There’s no information on how the global release will differ from the Japanese version besides being available in multiple languages. Square Enix may be planning new events and characters throughout the year after the game is released. Players will have to wait and see what Square Enix has in store.

Square Enix is encouraging players to pre-register now. The nigher number of registrations, the bigger the rewards all players can receive. So far, more than 50k players have pre-registered. Everyone will receive 1,000 gems (the in-game currency) and 1 Lucky Chest Ticket at launch.

Dragon Quest of the Stars will be released on both iOS and Android devices. It will be available in English, Chinese (Traditional), Spanish, German, and French.

Pre-registration is still open until the launch date. Players simply have to click the app link and pre-register. Similar to Japan, the game will be released free, but there are in-game purchases.

The Dragon Quest series continues to be widely popular across the world. In December, Square Enix announced the latest title, Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age, shipped over 5.5 million units worldwide. DQXI is currently available for PC via Steam and PlayStation 4. While the new mobile game nears its release date, players can enjoy the newest title in the DQ series in anticipation of the global release of the new game.

Dragon Quest of the Stars will launch worldwide in most locations on February 25.
