When Spider-Man: Miles Morales was announced for the PlayStation 5, many believed we were getting our first look at one of the first PlayStation 5 exclusive titles.

However, it appears as if that is not accurate. Sony has confirmed that Spider-Man: Miles Morales will also be releasing on the PlayStation 4 console this holiday season.

If you purchase the PS4 version of the game, you will get a free PS5 upgrade when you get the new console. The game is set to retail for $50 regardless of the console you buy it for.

Sony recently released an all new gameplay trailer for this title, confirming a few key points about the storyline.

It takes place roughly one year after the events of the first Spider-Man. Miles lives in Harlem where his mother is running for public office. We see Miles with a friend exploring the streets of East Harlem, where his mother will be giving a speech.

A massive fight breaks out between the Roxxon Oil company and a group called The Underground, which is being led by longtime Spidey foe The Tinkerer. Miles suits up and fights on the Braithwaite Bridge, where the rival factions are duking it out.

The Underground is attempting to steal Roxxon’s NuForm energy canisters and Miles has to stop them. He employs a number of new abilities, such as bio-electric attacks and camouflage, which renders him completely invisible to enemies.

Insomniac Games Community Director James Stevenson talked about the game in a recent press release.

“You’ll see better looking characters with improved skin, eyes, hair, and facial animation (including our new, next-generation Peter Parker),” he said. “You’ll also see ray-traced reflections and ambient shadows, improved lighting, more pedestrians and vehicles stretching further into the distance, and the same optional performance mode offered on Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales, allowing you to finally play the game at a targeted 60fps frame rate.”

This title will not be a full game, nor is it the inevitable Spider-Man 2. Instead, this is a shorter add-on to the original, with all-new gameplay and a new story.

We got to see Miles get his spidey powers in the first Spider-Man game. Since the early stages of that game, when it was confirmed that Miles was a character in this universe, fans were clamoring for the opportunity to take to the streets, swinging around as the new wall crawler in town.

Spider-Man: Miles Morales will release on the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 on November 12.
