When you think of tactical shooters, one of the best ones in recent memory is Rainbow Six Siege by Ubisoft. Despite this game coming out back in 2015, it’s still a fan-favorite amongst the community of the tactical shooter genre. A huge reason for this is because of the consistent updates it gets.
It got a couple in October, most notably the Halloween-themed update that gave players the chance to battle it out against iconic monsters. Ubisoft really knows how to keep gameplay fresh and improve experiences for its die-hard fans. Well, they’re at it again. This time, the chances are intended to improve balance issues for an overall better experience.
The update is being called Operation Shifting Tides, which is not only making some balance changes to some of the guns and characters, it’s also introducing two new operators. Thus, if you’ve been looking for a new character model to fall in love with, this update is the one for you.
Every time a new operator gets introduced, that’s cause for celebration. It gives you more ways to approach combat, whether the operator is focused around stealth or has a different role in the battlefield. Ubisoft has done a great job at introducing these operators at just the right time when players are looking for something fresh.
What’s particularly noteworthy about this update — though — is its new limb-penetrating system. That’s right. Players will now be able to shoot once and hit multiple enemies if they time their shot well enough. It’s a great addition that should just make Rainbow Six Siege all the more realistic.
The limb-penetrating system won’t be available for all guns, which makes sense because of the various power and range specs. Still, you can bet players are going to love aiming down their scope waiting for the perfect time to kill two birds with one stone. It’s a combat system that you don’t see a lot in tactical shooters of this caliber, unfortunately.
As far as the balance changes to the guns, there are several worth mentioning. For example, the M-12 SMG is receiving a damage increase. Going the opposite direction is the FO-12 shotgun. These are just a couple of guns receiving updates.
If you want to see the entire list, you can head to the game’s main page online. There, Ubisoft has outlined the full list of adjustments and new features. All in all, they should make this tactical shooter all the better.
