The hits just seem to keep rolling for PS Plus members. These past couple of months have been amazing in the free games department. From the BioShock: The Collection to Sims 4, there doesn’t seem to be a shortage of good games to pick up. The month of March doesn’t seem like it will be any different.

The next batch was just released and one of the heavy-hitters is Shadow of the Colossus Remake, which came out back in 2018. It’s an amazing game in almost every way. If you’ve never experienced the original or the remake, you pretty much go out searching for ancient monsters called colossuses. They’re massive in size, but have varying weak points that you’ll soon discover once on top of them.

When the original came out, the game was praised for its stunning visuals. The graphics were truly groundbreaking at the time and showed a lot of promise for the technology that Sony was working with. The remake takes the same successful elements, but tweaks them a bit for a truly definitive experience.

One of the most notable changes is the control scheme. The remake’s version is much easier to master. You have an easier time navigating your character and adjusting perspectives while taking down these unique titans. The graphics have also received a major upgrade. Seeing them on a PS4 Pro is a truly amazing experience that everyone should be privy to at some point.

It should be mentioned that there still are a couple of issues. Most notably, the camera can still feel a little funky. After some time with this game, though, you should feel right at home. There are also some that feel the gameplay should have been upgraded a little more.

Despite these minor weaknesses, Shadow of the Colossus Remake is an amazing game. If you’ve ever wanted to feel like a true monster hunter, then this is the title for you. The scale of each colossus is mesmerizing. It’s also amazing how different each one is. Some are hulking in size and walk on the ground and then others take flight, making it necessary to time your attacks perfectly. The colossus variety helps keep gameplay fresh.

After taking one down, you’ll want to mount your steed and head off to the next location. It’s a simple recipe that just works. Shadow of the Colossus Remake is definitely one of the better offerings for PS Plus members in recent memory.
