The next-gen consoles are almost upon us. We’re roughly one year out from the official release of the PlayStation 5. It has garnered a lot of attention ever since spec and hardware details came out. Still, many gamers want to know more. More specifically, they want to know what games they can start looking forward to.

The wait is seemingly over, as Sony has hinted at several games being available for the PS5. At the top of that list is Cyberpunk 2077. This RPG has been in the works for years by CD Projekt. We’ve seen glimpses of some gameplay, featuring futuristic worlds with towering buildings. The environments look so unique, and this title is being pegged as one of the most in-depth RPGs to date.

Quite honestly, it can’t come out soon enough. And to think about it debuting on the PS5 is so exciting. It should elevate this title’s graphics and gameplay to unprecedented heights.

Death Stranding is another game that more than likely will debut on both the PS4 and PS5. Sony’s Mark Cerny was recently asked about the possibility of this game appearing on a next-gen console, to which he paused a long time and smirked before being asked another question. This was likely a showing of hands, indicating that it is indeed coming to the new console from Sony.

Death Stranding is an action game being developed by Kojima Productions. It has been compared a lot to Metal Gear, which features a lot of stealth and open-world exploration. Life and death appear to be major themes in the game.

When the main character Sam dies — played by The Walking Dead star Norman Reedus, he’s sent to an upside-down water world. Upon returning to the world of the living, events that occurred because of the initial death still remain. The game seems pretty novel and early graphics suggest the game would play perfectly on a next-gen console, such as the PS5.

The Last of Us 2 could also appear on the upcoming PS5. Although Sony hasn’t confirmed this fact outright, it makes sense. Why would the developers put one of the most highly anticipated games on a console that’s at the end of its life cycle? Other games that could also make an appearance include Starfield, Ghost of Tsushima, and The Elder Scrolls 6.

All of these titles are heavy-hitters, and hopefully, they grace the PS5 at launch. They would certainly make it a must-own console on day one.
