The Twitter page of Rare’s Sea of Thieves served up the cutest mini-mystery to players, making one wonder: What shall we call this cutie? Included in the tweet was a screenshot of the fluffy crimson dog: “What should we call this good lad?” A naming frenzy erupted within the community, and should I be honest here? Gamers came up with some crazy suggestions.

But before anything else, there were some great suggestions for names: “Plank” or “Anchor,” a suggestion from Tyler Crabtree, very much so in line with the pirate vibes. Then the wholesome ones came through. LittleFellaSOT was simple yet so beautiful, “Little Fella :)”- just something nice and cute beyond words. Whereas yahya yelled excitedly, “TDM Says Aye!,” and honestly, no one knows what that means, but it sure is fun.

Along with the names also came directions. PatriciaWorldPW gave “biscuit or dog”—soothes my soul for being so straightforward. VIPSKAR took a barista route with “Mocha” as they already have a dog named “Cappuccino.” That’s top-notch consistency, while, on the other hand, husky_blueberry was totally crushed by sweet suggestions of “Chocolate Milk :3.” Cute enough, and unattractive one: are there going to be grubby stains on the ship’s deck?

Some, of course, posed against all the sweetness. TornadicDoge24 took the opportunity to state, “Fix the game pooch,” because in the face of so much cuteness, gamers will never stop asking for patches. And then HLariash hopped back into the walk-the-Plank name again in very definite terms: If someone Tells you to walk the Plank, you gave better do it right. Now, that is commitment!

The seriously strange outlier? ThePretendUK simply chimed in with: “[PH] Not Cat.” No explanation. No context. Just…not a cat. Fair enough.

So what is the verdict? Well, the Rare side of the fence hasn’t officially tagged the canine yet, but if the community has anything to say about it, then this good lad is apt to go by anything from “Mocha” to “Walk the Plank.” And honestly? That chaotic energy has just got to be sight of Sea of Thieves.

Whether you’re Team Biscuit or Team Chocolate Milk, one thing’s for sure: This dog is here to steal hearts faster than sneaky pirates would swindle loot. Now we have to see if Rare’s truly apt to adopt any of those names or buys into something they just randomly drew out of left field.

Until then, stick around Sea of Thieves social activities because if there is one thing gamers love more than naming a virtual pet, it’s arguing about those names afterward.
