Okay, Sea of Stars fans, hold on to your butts because we have some smokin’ news coming from the developers. Throes of the Watchmaker, a free DLC for the indie darling Sea of Stars, releases on May 20, 2025. Oh, and it’s going to be available for all platforms. No exclusivity nonsense here; everybody gets to experience this wacky post-game adventure.
So what is the whole ruckus about? The trailer dropped on the timeline, duh, and it screams carnivalish chaos. This here is your usual Sea of Stars charm cranked up to 11 with some brand-new tight mechanics and of course, a whole cast of bizarre NPCs. Just the title-Throes of the Watchmaker-made me think of some cryptic clockwork madness, and honestly? We’re here for it.
Sea of Stars, for the uninitiated, is that gorgeous pixel-art RPG from Sabotage Studio that pretty much wrecked the indie scene last year. It’s turn-based, has a killer soundtrack, and an epic story that grabs you right in the nostalgia bone. And then they’re just going to add more adventure after the main game? Just give me dessert after an already fabulous main course.
The trailer is nice enough to give you some tidbits without really giving it all away (where’s the fun in that?), and we get a little peek into new environments like floating islands, mechanical monstrosities, and what looks like a circus tent that’s definitely seen better days. Everything’s just another classic RPG weirdness sprinkled with that Sea of Stars magic.
The big question: what on earth is the Watchmaker? New evil guy? A tragic tinkerer hiding some bad secrets? Or a clockmaker really bad at keeping time? We’ll have to wait until 20th May to meet whoever that may be, but the hype train is already on the track.
And yeah, FREE? Sure thing, zero money at all. Just get that update for the game once the time comes, and bam-a brand new content. In a time when a DLC sometimes costs more than a base game, this is fresh air. Sabotage Studio really out here winning hearts.
Mark that on your calendar and set that reminder; do what you have to do. May 20th, 2025-Throes of the Watchmaker dropping, and we’re all in for an epic ride.
