In a shocking twist, Rockstar Games has officially confirmed the resurrection of the Halloween Pass 2 in Red Dead Online. To be truthful, it’s not a new occurrence; it’s actually the fifth time it happens and not the second, nor third, but the fifth! What the heck? The previous passholders are getting their ups and cons again, while the new ones can get to the limit of November 3rd through the levels. Ghostly costumes and other items are there for the brave players to take, if they are willing, I guess.
But to be honest, the players are really not happy at all. The replies to Rockstar’s tweet are a complete mess, revealing the anger with emojis and memes. One player tweeted, “For the 5th year in a row, it is not surprising from Rockstar,” and honestly? Maybe they are right. Halloween Pass 2 is the same, only the period has changed; otherwise, it’s just old content with nothing new added.
The comments keep pouring in. One gamer was like, “Yeah… finished it all on the first day. Is that all you got?” which almost perfectly captures the gist of how most of the serious Red Dead Online players feel. They are bored. They no longer want the same old Halloween pass that they have finished many times already, they want something new.
The strange thing is that there are players asking for the FIRST Halloween pass instead of the current one, and this is just unbelievable. A player on PC said that he never had a chance to use the old pass as he started playing after it was gone. And then there are others who plead for the original Halloween pass to be reinstated or even all the old outlaw passes that new players missed out on, and these comments are coming in by the dozens.
There’s no denying that frustration levels are up. One player went totally berserk in caps “NOBODY FUCKING CARES! LISTEN TO YOUR FUCKING FANBASE!!! WE HAVE REQUESTED THE SAME THING FOR FIVE STRAIGHT YEARS!!!!” which is, well, uh. But you do understand their plight, right? The community gets a blend of resentment and anger when it continually puts up with being ignored year after year after asking for a certain content.
Meanwhile, a separate conversation on the topic of GTA 6 has emerged in the replies, as one would expect. A user made a sarcastic comment “Me, who’s been waiting for GTA 6 for 13 years” with a skull emoji, which pretty much sums up the vibe. It appears that Rockstar’s focus is so divided among its various titles that as a result, each community feels under served.
Alternatively, a player has fancied an innovative approach to present his demand. This guy even suggested that he would be blowing $495 on five gold bar bundles worth $99 each if only Rockstar would grant a 60 fps patch for the game. That is some serious loyalty! Another user simply mentioned a PS5 version, which, given the long presence of this game, is a pretty reasonable request?
The whole situation has an aspect of chaos. One good thing at the very least is that the new players have a chance of getting one more crack at the Halloween Pass 2 content that they might have missed. But at the same time, the veteran players are feeling neglected and soaked with the same old content.
Moreover, some confusion has arisen in the comments as to whether this is actually new content or not. Some players were of the opinion that Rockstar was revealing something new, while others immediately refuted them, saying no, this is the same Halloween Pass 2 simply being re-released yet again from a couple of years back.
It’s really surprising to see the community divide. Some players are just thankful that Red Dead Online has got any spotlight at all, considering the main attention is on GTA Online. Still, others state that “these Halloween passes are enough already, return the outlaw passes” which in a way is a fair point.
Moreover, the timing of the whole thing is rather peculiar – With November 3rd being the deadline, some players think that bigger announcements might be forthcoming. One person’s guess even indicated November 3rd was a significant date since it was the day when GTA 5 pre-order dates were set in 2012. Gamers really don’t miss a thing and scrutinize each detail.
However, the Red Dead Online community has made its point loud and clear – they want more than just the same old Halloween content to be recycled. They crave the return of the first Halloween passes and all the old outlaw passes along with next-gen updates and, in the long run, substantial content updates. It’s yet to be seen whether Rockstar will listen this time or not, but for now, it’s the spooky pass for the fifth time. Spooky, indeed.
