The irony is unbelievable. Think about it, Rockstar Games-the studio that actually defined open world gaming with GTA. The same dudes who dropped RDR2, where the details were so fine that you could actually see horse testicles shrink in cold weather. And what’s the news now? They’ve become a meme for not having released GTA 6 yet. Fantastic stuff!
This tweet spread the meme by a disgruntled fan (or more like someone who just forgot how game development works). Basically, it accused Rockstar of being “lazy” for going slow with the next GTA installment. Which lol. Lazy? These are the same people who delayed a game once because the coffee cups in an office building didn’t have realistic steam physics.
But the point is, GTA 6 isn’t your average sequel. This is THE most awaited game… perhaps even ever? Stakes: Astronomical. There’s been, like, 185 million copies sold of GTA V or something stupidly similar. The kind of pressure that they must be feeling behind Rockstar office walls to deliver something even bigger, crazier, and more polished is just insane.
And meanwhile, we have fans acting like anybody could microwave a game of this scale like a Hot Pocket. Like “just hurry up already!” And then if Rockstar rushed it and the game launched broken these are the same people who would be screaming “WHY DIDN’T THEY TAKE MORE TIME??” Gamers, man. Can’t win.
Responses to the original tweet are a mix of happy and painfully accurate. One person said that that’s exactly why Rockstar games don’t suck right at launch: they’re taking their time. Unlike…some others (cough Cyberpunk cough). Another just dropped the cold hard truth: “Would you rather have a mid-GTA 6 now? Or wait and get a masterpiece?”
And that’s honestly the real question. It’s not like any “mid” by Rockstar ever gets made. It’s not “good enough” for them. Every single game they ever make is EVENT. The cultural reset. GTA V came out in 2013 and people STILL play it now. That is not an accident-It happens because they do not cut corners.
So yes, maybe GTA 6 is taking forever, and maybe it doesn’t even come out until like 2025 or later, who knows? You can bet, though, it will be worth the wait when the day comes. Until then it is probably best to stop calling one of the most detail-oriented studios in the gaming industry “lazy”-at least on account of us being just plain impatient.
Or keep whining. In either case, it’s probably safe to assume that Rockstar’s too busy motion-capturing some random pedestrian’s sneeze to care.
