So Rockstar decided to throw a little bit of havoc into Red Dead Online with an interesting new showdown called Head for the Hills (Dodge a Bullet). And it sure lives up to its wacky name. Clients have taken this high-stakes variant of a classical showdown, where survival is not skill but rather an act of pure worship to instant reflexes. Oh, and I forgot to add that it’s 3X Gold, along with Gang Hideouts and Free Roam Missions bonuses, all these things that have been heavily rewarded!

Good, so what exactly is Head for the Hills? Endermorphically speaking, it’s more or less a last-man-standing bullet hell in the spirit of Red Dead. In goes shootouts in which the dodging itself is more important than shooting: Dodgeball with bullets, Western style. If you love pressure, then this should be your all-time favorite.

Of course, Rockstar didn’t give players a mere bonus during the introduction of the new mode. The 3X Gold bonus is also active, so the stack of rewards is growing faster than ever while one grinds this showdown. There are also payouts from Gang Hideouts and Free Roam Missions, so you’ve got a whole backlog of bounties that are ready to be cashed in.

But while making this update has thrown some of its own chaos into Red Dead Online, the responses on the Rockstar tweet have shown that players have other priorities. One commenter literally said, “I need my 60FPS,” while another one joked, “Oh is Instagram and GTA 6 related 👀👀”—because seriously, not a single Rockstar announcement goes untouched by GTA VI rumors.

Now, while it did not take long for GTA VI to get mentioned, one user asked, “RDR2 60fps PS5 PATCH?” while another one said, with a sharp edge, “Be nice if you actually finished the online story, but RDO is in a coma being drip-fed instead.”

Others are just having fun with the new mode. “This mode is great you should stream it!” exclaimed one player, followed by a hype GIF captioned, “Bring it on.”

So yes, if ever you needed a reason to get your butt back into Red Dead Online, well, here it is. Head for the Hills is now active, gold bonuses are stacked around, and chaos awaits to be served. And GTA VI questions won’t be dying down anytime soon.

Now, go dodge some bullets, cowboys! And maybe even, just maybe, Rockstar would have got time to finish that 60fps patch along with that.
