The winds of contests giving an unlawful intensity to force the Rockstar’s open-world masterpiece Red Dead Redemption 2 into a port for the Nintendo Switch 2. Yes, you read it correctly-An almost too hard-for-the-PS4-and-Xbox-One game might just be heading to the new Nintendo console. If online feedback is the yardstick, then people really some thoughts.
To begin with, let’s dissect that news. Dexerto says sources reveal the RDR2 Switch 2 port in the works, with next-gen visuals on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. That should imply shinier visuals, smooth framerates, or sometimes glorious new lighting to showcase the sunset of Saint Denis. But the real surprise here is the insinuation of Arthur Morgan’s journey on a Nintendo platform-an utterly unthinkable situation.
Well, the replies? Pure mayhem. Some of them gave thumbs up, with Loner Skii saying, “🔥banger” while Dem🔥 deemed, “Nintendo is going just down at this point.” Ouch. Then follows the worrythers: Archy_Works jokes with “10 fps gameplay 🔥🔥🔥🔥,” and cerll_chan thinks it will either be a slideshow or run with “PS2 graphics.” Harsh but you know Switch ports for demanding games don’t fare so well in reputation sometimes.
Some others might believe. DarkSalxm seemed to rejoice, commenting, “That’s actually crazy … I never thought a new-aged Rockstar game would come to Nintendo.” Whereas megakarlach notes that the rumored Switch 2 hardware would probably run it fine, unlike the OG Switch, as it’s assumed to be on par with PS4/Xbox One.
Others were asking serious questions like why Rockstar isn’t just making Red Dead 3 instead (looking at you, Big J 🇺🇸). And let’s not forget the hopefuls, like Samantha J. Foster Composer, who can’t keep their fingers out of the air, holding out for a PS5 upgrade.
And Kush? Kush summed the mood with, “Yes!!! Old ass games on new ass systems!” Fair enough really.
So, here’s what it’s about: If the rumour is true, this would be a massive Nintendo acquisition showing that the Switch 2 is now sitting on the big boy’s table. Until Rockstar or Nintendo makes either of them go pop, however, we’re just speculating—or maybe praying the port does not turn into another “Skyrim on Alexa.”
One thing is for sure: When Arthur Morgan rides onto Switch 2, he’ll be bought for a second time because really, whodoesn’t want to rob trains while on the toilet?
(Side note-Dexerto says next-gen upgrades are in the works too, so if you’ve been holding out for 60fps RDR2 on PS5, your patience may soon finally be rewarded.)
Anyway, keep those expectations in check, cowboys. This is still not official, but the hype train has already left the station. Choo choo.
