There you go trainers, strap in as it is going WILD in Paldea, Kitakami, and Blueberry Academy. The latest mass outbreaks in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet send some pretty lively baby beasts out there, and if you have been sleeping on your shiny hunt grind, wake up because this is the time.

What was popping? First of all, it’s all Wiglett all over the beaches of Paldea. Y’know, that stranger little garden eel thing that seems to have lost its way to a Diglett convention? That one. If you missed your first chance to grab it, now you get a whole squadron.

While KITAKAMI, Growlithe generally acts like some kind of fire puppy militia in asserting control over its space. Never mind that this fluffy fire-type is a crowd favorite. When mass outbreaks occur, that is the best time to find one with perfect stats-or perhaps even lay your hands on a shiny if RNGesus smiles upon her.

Then there is Blueberry Academy, where Swablu is basically turning the skies into giant cotton candy factories. Come on, these little cloud-birds are ridiculously adorable. Who wouldn’t want an Altaria one day? With Swablu’s outbreaks, that means you can farm for that sweet evolution without wasting hours wandering through obscurity.

For those just joining us on this mass outbreak business, here goes: events like these serve to temporarily boost the spawns of certain Pokémon in certain areas. It’s like the game is saying, “Okay, stop whining about bad luck, and here’s a freebie.” The open-world setup of Scarlet and Violet has never rendered hopping from region to region and back again for the purpose of catching them all too easy, though.

But wait, there’s more. This is not just about masses. A mass outbreak is the jackpot yet priceless piece of real estate if you are shiny hunting. The higher the number of spawns of one single Pokémon, the more chances you have to accidentally stumble across that desired alternative color variant. So if you’ve been busy grinding sandwiches and shiny charms for yourself, this is your time.

About these three, though… Why? Wiglett, Growlithe, and Swablu cannot be said to be particularly rare Pokémon, but perhaps Game Freak dropped hints about something much bigger. Something new for evolutions? Or special Tera types? Or maybe just the fact that they really like saying “Wiglett” out loud. (Try it; it’s fun.)

Anyways…if you are still chilling deep somewhere into a Pokémon Scarlet or Violet playthrough, don’t sleep on these outbreaks. These bursts do not last forever, and who knows how long it would be before the next rollercoaster comes. So grab a Poké Ball, get a fair few repels (or lack thereof-live dangerously), and head on before the spawns do dry up.

And hey, if you manage to catch a shiny, be sure to show it off in the comments section. Or not; we will just assume you’re lying unless you attach pics. Happy hunting trainers-may the odds be ever in your favor. Or at least better than mine, considering my last attempt at a shiny ended with me running over a full-odds shiny Lechonk. Now that’s just tragic.
