Team 17 and Ghost Town Games continue to roll out new content for Overcooked! 2, which launched in 2018. Though the game is less than two years old, the team has continued to release new patches and updates before releasing another game in the popular series.

The newest update, Spring Festival, is a Lunar New Year-themed update just in time for the holiday this weekend.

“It’s the Year of the Rat and time for a celebration! Grab your family and friends and serve up delicious dishes in beautiful, themed kitchens. Bubbling hot pots and fresh fruit platters are on the menu with two new chefs joining the festivities!” states the official YouTube summary for the Spring Festival Update trailer.

2020 is the Year of the Rat on the Lunar calendar. Every year, a different animal is celebrated. This is the rat sign’s time to shine.

The Spring Festival update is available now on PC via Steam, Nintendo Switch, and PlayStation 4. The new update is still pending on the Xbox One and PC via GoG. Though the update may come late to some, the Spring Festival isn’t a timed event. Players can enjoy the Lunar New Year at any time of the year, as long as they own the game.

The new update includes two new chefs. One is named “Rat Chef,” who shares a theme with the Lunar New Year. The second new chef is Turtle Chef. Players may assume the turtle is slower, but the Overcooked team assures players the player is faster than one may believe.

Also included are new levels. There are a total of five new levels, all themed after the Spring Festival Year of the Rat theme. Players will have to serve up various meals while dodging a Chinese dragon and more. The meals in each level range from various seafood, meat, and vegetable dishes.

The Spring Festival update is free for those who own the game. The content is included with the paid Season Pass, which includes the previously released DLCs Campfire Cook-Off, Night of the Hangry Horde, and Carnival of Chaos.

The new update contains a large amount of free content for those uninterested in paying for DLC.

Overcooked! 2 is available now on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
