Hidden Depths is the next content addition to Minecraft Dungeons, arriving later this month on May 26th. There isn’t much information out there just yet, but here’s everything you need to know about what to expect in this coming DLC.

There’s a watery theme this time around, a big change compared to the previous DLC Flames of the Nether, which was much hotter.

In Hidden Depths, players will venture deep into the Ocean biome, surrounded by mobs that you all know and love, and some new ones as well. Check out the splash art:

What can you spot? There are Skeletons, Guardians, an angry Drowned with a trident and crown, and some also blue water Slimes. Those slimes are cute and would be awesome to have in the full game of Minecraft. We can’t spot any glow squid, though!

In terms of the information given in the official announcement, we’re not sure what exactly the DLC brings. As a rough idea, the announcement mentions a “spreading corruption” that is tainting the depths of the oceans. This could be some exciting new corrupted mobs and more powerful versions of the ocean mobs you already know.

Even without any concrete info on what is being added in the DLC (we will find out more about that in the coming weeks) it was announced that there will be some free content released alongside the DLC.

New enchantments and new levels are a given with any Minecraft Dungeons DLC release, but there’s also something entirely new: Raid Captains.

These are basically super mobs that present an entirely new challenge. As the official release says, “they will change the way you play the game.” You’ll find Raid Captains in hidden areas across the world of Minecraft Dungeons – hopefully, they’ll be added to previous levels as well as the new Hidden Depths maps.

You will be able to get extra treasure and new rewards for defeating the Raid Captains. Maybe they’ll be super versions of various mobs already in the game. Giant Zombie, anyone?
