Mutazione is one of the more odd games currently in the announcement circuit, but it seems that it will still be an interesting experience for gamers. The game is being developed by Die Gute Fabrik and describes itself as a high-stakes adventure game mixed with a personal drama story.
It does feature a beautiful hand-illustrated world for players to explore with a unique cast of loveable mutants. The story itself is scattered with twists and turns that will shock and surprise players. When not out adventuring you can customize your gardens for unique and relaxing musical soundscapes.
In Mutazione, you play as a girl named Kai who travels to a strange and secretive community. She is there to visit her Grandfather, Nonno, who has become sick. Each day you can do several general tasks including talking to the villagers, exploring the town, learning the drama, and finding scenic spots to hangout.
The longer you stay helping nurse your grandfather back to health, the more you began to unravel long-kept secrets. You quickly discover that Nonno has other plans for Kai and you start to learn about secrets and betrayals boiling under the seemingly friendly community’s surface. To make matters worse, a creepy bird-like figure keeps appearing in Kai’s dreams.
This all revolves around an event that happened over 100 years ago. A meteor known as “Moon Dragon” struck the tropical holiday resort and although most residents perished those who survived began to mutate. Rescue missions ended, and those who remained on the island founded the small community of Mutazione.
“Make new friends; plant musical gardens; attend BBQs, band nights and boat trips; and embark on a final spiritual journey to save everyone from the strange darkness at the heart of it all,” reads the game’s description giving a good feel of what daily life in this village is about.
This game can best be described as a mutant soap opera with a good mix between small-town gossip and the supernatural. With so many mysteries and stories to explore the game itself will be a unique addition to any gamers collection. If you like musical gardens than this game is perfect for it features an option to build an opera of vegetation.
There is no release date other than sometime in 2019. The game will be available on PlayStation 4, PC, and Mac devices and can be purchased through the PlayStation Network, Steam, Itch, Game Jolt, or GOG. No price information is available, and the game has been rated ESRB Teen and PEGI 7.
