If you enjoy games set during the medieval times, then you may have run across Mount and Blade. Releasing in 2008, this action role-playing game is a sandbox filled with so many possibilities. You can develop your solder, amass a huge amount of wealth, or take it easy on the countryside with a family. The sheer amount of possibilities during an iconic era had so many on board.

The sequel has been in the works and many have anxiously waited an announcement of its release. We don’t know when it will officially be available, but we do know when it hits Steam’s Early Access. That will be at the end of March as reported by TaleWorlds Entertainment just recently. Thus, if you’ve waited for a follow-up with more in-depth combat and a gripping story, the wait is almost over.

As far as the story, it’s set 200 years prior to the events from the original. The lands of Calradia have never been depicted as beautifully as they have in this follow-up. There is now so much lore that you’ll have the pleasure of diving headfirst into when this game goes live in Early Access.

Based on the game’s description on Steam, there are a ton of new systems being added that should provide even more in-depth experiences. For example, there is a barter system that lets your character broker deals for the wellbeing of your faction. You can arrange marriages and even manage matters of treason. There doesn’t seem to be a cap on all of the activities you can engage in when building up your empire.

The battle mechanics also seem to be very competent. You’ll have the ability to test your wits during large-scale battles, where you’ll have access to some incredible weaponry. Play your cards right and the world will be your oyster. A miscalculation in defenses, though, could be costly and the downfall of your people.

The decisions you make on and off the battlefield will affect how the story plays out. Thus, you’re constantly on the edge of your seat as you watch wars and deals play out with a lot of stakes on the line. Mount and Blade 2 isn’t even out yet and it already seems like an amazing medieval experience.

Hopefully, the Early Access version includes a lot of features so that players can get a true feel of the game. We’ll find out shortly enough.
