Monster Hunter World just put out a gigantic update for a seasonal event, with one and all in a mad rush giving this event a ride to remember that is not only for the new content but also for Capcom bringing back a ton of older Event Quests. That means some of those hauntingly familiar hunts might just be in poor taste and the complete mayhem was re-experienced by hunters all over the lands.

So what is the low-down? Apparently, according to the official Monster Hunter Twitter account, the new Event Quests will be joined by older ones making a comeback. The tweet itself really did not say much—just gave a link to the full list over at the official site—so if you were holding out for that one ridiculous quest where we had to fight three Rajangs at once or for the crossover from which Geralt’s armor came, now’s your chance.

So why now? Some of them were indeed time-limited upon their initial release. If you have been sleeping on them, that was your own fault. Until now. Capcom has been good in bringing back older content into normal seasonal events, and man, this one seems loaded. There is just something about grinding for layered armor or special weapons obtained during that past event without being dragged for almost a year while waiting for it to show up again.

A sick screenshot was posted alongside the tweet (most probably the event promo since, let’s be real, Capcom loves to flex on how cool its monster designs are), but that’s all we get. So, most likely over on Monster Hunter, somewhere is a more respectable crazy collection of new gear; maybe, even, a sneaky new monster.

In any case, if you had been gone for a while, it fits perfectly. New quests, old quests, and probably a million people online grinding together—what’s there not to love? Good luck, completionists! Some of them are just downright sadistic, but that’s the fun.

As to when the event will run, that is still a mystery, but from looking at earlier festivals, we should give it about two weeks of hunting. Sharpen your blades, grab some potions, and jump back into the madness.

The tweet didn’t say anything about Iceborne though, just so you know. But it would be weird for Capcom to leave that expansion out right? Might want to check the fine print in that link to the official site. Just saying.

Whatever the case, Monster Hunter World continues to prove itself among the top live-service games around: Forever updated, bringing content back from the dead to endless community participation. What more could you ask for?

Now go hunt something, preferably something that cannot one-shot you. May the odds be in your favor!
